DEATHMATCH Poll for May 22nd/23rd

We are back with another Deathmatch, and this time Curse Never Dying has chosen the six participants

Mannimarco, King of Worms by Lord Buffalo

    the black throat by Termitedust

The Wizard's Thrall by John Leblanc

KotN - The Mage of Arkay by Lee Fiskilis

Jekyll and Hyde by Benjamin Swanson

    Vampire Mage by Rhys

The poll runs for 24 hours and those builds which get 20 'likes' by the end, plus the winner of the poll, will survive on the site. The rest will feel the wrath of Curse's axe.

So read through the builds, vote for your favourite and add a 'like' to any that you feel are worth it.

Its nice to dust off the old ax and give it a few swings once in a while.

    Hehe, have fun.

I reckon that KoTN - The mage of Arkay is probably the best out of them, and definitely not Bloodworks material, but the Wizard's Thrall and I think Jekyll and Hyde are also worth keeping (WT definitely, JaH maybe not).

The Vampire Mage is just a bit raw still, might leave a comment over there if Rhys is still active but I could see it moving out quite easily with a bit of work put into it...Same as the Mannimarco build, which I think has only suffered really from the "being a fiftieth Mannimarco build" problem that some newer ones face.

The Black Throat is probably the only one that I think should probably be straight up axed...Poor well just about everything and it got way too much advice for it to still be in that state if the author cared that much.

    I agree with you somewhat

I feel the KotN series has a lot of potential provided Fiskilis does more to make his characters stand out. I say that only because so many divine priests, champions and warriors have been made over the years. I don't think its quite as good as the Wizard's Thrall but if Fiskilis is willing to work on it some more, its worth saving.

The Wizard's Thrall probably has the most potential out of this group. The core concept of the build is pretty unique.

I personally don't think the Jekyll and Hyde build can be salvaged, especially given that the author was not very receptive to advice.

The Black Throat, Vampire Mage, and Mannimarco are probably not going to make it, and I'm ok with that. It just doesnt look like any real effort was put into those builds.

I think it has been said like a hundred times now but that doesn't stop me from doing it again xD:

[...] and those builds which get 20 'likes' by the end, plus the winner of the poll, will survive on the site. The rest will feel the wrath of Curse's axe.

If you were to be a newer builder reading this, what would you say? :)

Um that if I plan on posting a build I should put some effort into it

Admittedly, yes it could be worded better. But the deathmatchs aren't going about to stop permanently any time soon, as they work to keep the group tidy and plenty of the builds that are featured in them haven't been touched by their creators since they were posted.

It seems you don't like the idea of these death matches. What would you rather we do?

    ?
Not so, I'd say :). Look at this build, 0 likes and hasn't been touched in 2 years, where most of the builds here have received improvements over the time but were not given the chance to collect likes over more than 3 months.
It rather looks like only newer builds with less than 20 likes get featured, regardless of the work done by the authors.

Liking it? No, but they are very important. I (and many others btw) just think it could be displayed in a more new-builder-friendly way.
