Fifth Birthday Celebration Resources

    Hello Folks!

As you know, the site's fifth birthday celebration wrapped up about a week ago now. I wanted to thank Paul for all his work spotlighting the groups and spearheading the festivities, as well as all the Hosts who worked really hard to come up with some outstanding retrospectives on some stellar content that's been produced over the last fives years. Seeing all the wonderful guides, builds, and articles written in one place made think that there should be one, easy to find spot where all those blogs posts could be accessed. So I have chronologically compiled them below for you reflecting and creating pleasure.

    Without further ado...

    We are FIVE today

Yes, its true! The original Skyrim Blog was launched on April 1st 2011 - which means that today is our fifth birthday.

To celebrate this not-inconsiderable achievement, we are going to be having a few days of special features here on the site. ...

Birthday Celebrations - Be a Bard for the Day

April the 1st is Tamriel Vaults birthday. Its 5 years old… It really is a standing testament to Paul who first founded it and to everyone who has helped form the blog. From Todd to the humble lurkers who walk in the shadows. Hircine bless you all.

In respect and honor of this, we at Tamriel Tales will be running a short event.

Welcome to Tamriel Tales… Bard For The Day.

How did you come to the site?

With the 5th birthday Celebration Weekend underway it got me wondering how you came to find the site and get started here?

So I thought I'd start this up as a topic because.. well... I'm interested to know...

How long have you been here on The Skyrim Blog / Tamriel Vault? How did you come to find the site in the first place? And what made you join?

10 things you probably didn't know about this site

Five years is a long time on the Internet, and there have been lots of twists and turns along the way with The Skyrin Blog / Tamriel Vault.

So, just for fun, I thought I'd delve back into history and take a look at some of the things that many of you newer people might not realise about the history and background of the site.

Character Build Group: Five Year Retrospective

While it isn’t the longest-running group (that honor belongs to Elder Scrolls Lore), Skyrim Character Building has been a feature of the site for almost as long as the site has been on Ning. With over a thousand builds counted amongst its ranks, the CB Group continues to be at the forefront of quality content on the site. For the site’s fifth anniversary we’d thought it’d be nice to take a look at Skyrim CB over the years, discussing how both the group and the way we approach character building has changed over the years, and also take a look at a featured build from each year.

The Best of Tips and Tricks 2011-2016

One of the enduring features of our site over the last five years is our Tips and Tricks group. Many of you will not remember that it was first called 'Skyrim Glitches' and the very first host was our erstwhile Overseer, Todd.

Anyway, Albino has trawled the archives and picked out his personal favourites from each of the last five years.

Five years of the Lore Group

The fact that the Lore Group is the oldest Group on the site is not its main claim to fame. Rather, I think that honour goes to how it has acted as a resource for builders and bloggers over the years. Indeed, the three sister groups of Character Building, Roleplaying and Lore share a symbiotic relationship with each other which continues to this day.

    Introducing 'The Gateway'

Hot News! As part of our 5th Birthday Celebrations we are pleased to announce the launch of The Tamriel Vault's newest and freshest Group... The Gateway

This group is mainly the brainchild of Edana, and so I can't do better than have her tell you what its all about in her own words:

Keep your finger on the pulse of what's going on with the games we love. Hear some interesting news?  Post it here and to keep the community informed.

The Evolution of the Roleplay Group

The roleplay group here on the site has a long and illustrious history with tons of great content and a whole slew of dedicated hosts over the year. Thank you to current host, Legion, for penning this retrospective.

Stories, tales and poems: Five years on...

It makes perfect sense to me that a site that was called 'The Skyrim Blog' would include the opportunity for people to blog. And the switch to Ning in October 2011 opened up that possibility - with the chance for every single member of the site to have their own individual blog to record their stories and experiences in Elder Scrolls (and now Fallout).

And so it is that, from humble beginnings with Charlie and Piper Jo, The Story Corner (later 'Tamriel Tales' and 'Wasteland Tales') evolved into the most wonderful repository of creativity and endeavour that it has become. Thanks to Sotek for putting together this tribute.

What the Tamriel Vault has meant to me?

Over the last five years, The Skyrim Blog / TamrielVault has been home to many wonderful members. Over that time we have all contributed to this community in our own way (even you, Lurkers!) and we've all helped make this community the wonderful place that it is. I thought that there would be no better way to commemorate the Vault's fifth birthday than to share with you all what this site means to me!

And there you have it folks! Our celebration all wrapped up. There are some seriously fantastic resources in these articles, so if you missed one of these posts I suggest going back and taking the time to read through them.

Thanks so much again to everyone who penned a retrospective, Paul for hist time helping us celebrate, and to all of you who help make this community great!

You're welcome, Paul. And I agree! I thought they deserved a spot where they could easily be revisited.  There were some awesome articles mentioned that I hadn't read before. I'm not sure I would have remembered where to find them down the road. So my reasons may have been a bit selfish, too.
