Cannon said: But Why assassin? All MA moves are based on Magic Damage. Only non-skill dagger combos and dagger skills shared with assassins are calculated off of strength. And there is a fair share of dagger skills exclusive to MA. Which, again, are calculated off of magic damage stat. And I'm not even touching staves now.

Normal attacks and many dagger abilities, such as Cutting Wind and Hundred Kisses, are still based off physical attack. If you focused purely on magick damage your bow and dagger magic would be slightly stronger but your physical attacks would be gimped, which also means the best dagger ability in the game, Hundred Kisses, would do little damage to bosses which is where you need it most.

Nah, If you want MA, I'd say go for Sorcerer. Gives the highest magick damage gain. And lets you grab some sweet robes on the way.

As I said, that would fuck with the damage on Hundred Kisses and the like. Hundred Kisses is one of the best boss killers in the game second only to the Assassin exclusive Dire Gouge. Any sane MA would take that and the ability that sets you on fire whenever they're going against a boss, especially Diamon or Online Ur (hell, even Offline Ur).

Call me insane, but I leave hundred kisses to asassins. Prefer to keep my distance, y'know? The thing is, I am prone to going full-on into one thing instead of rounding out. So it's ultimately a matter of preference. Now, I think Deebs has enough of our off-topic clutter.

Man are you guys getting into this...Nice, love it really, I'll admit that I've only got about 45% of a clue about what you guys are talking about, I know that the Ur Dragon is a thing, but that's about my experience with it, so I've got no idea how hard that fight would be. To be honest, I've found Hundred Kisses to be really good, I mean I'm planning on running an Assassin after my Mystic Knight (any tips on that class would be greatly appreciated) and that was going to be one of my go-to attacks, though this Dire Gouge sounds pretty great.

Might have to get a proper DD discussion up sometime if this is the amount of chat we can start :)

I see DD regaining popularity lately, so now might be the best time to discuss it.

The Ur Dragon is the hardest enemy in the game. Offline its not bad but Online its nigh impossible to kill. This thing is as big as the Dragon you fight in the main storyline and has around 20-30 hearts scattered all over the body instead of the single one and when you do enough damage to a single heart it disappears and cannot be used for damage anymore. The offline alone gives even unnerfed level 200 Assassins from vanilla DD trouble (well, not quite trouble, but it still takes them at least 8 minutes to kill the thing, when you compare that to Diamon who basically any well built class can kill in under a minute and said Assassin can kill in 20 seconds that's a long time), this bastard also has so much damage that even a well built level 200 tank Mystic Knight can get demolished by if they aren't careful. Online Ur is even worse, slightly higher damage (I think) and it has infinitely more health, damage is actually done by every player fighting against it at the time, nowadays it can take days for the Online Ur Dragon to fall, and it gets stronger each time its defeated.

As for Mystic Knight there's two ways you can play it: Ultimate Tank or Cannon Spam. Ultimate Tank is exactly as it sounds, buff yourself and your allies and build to have as much defense as possible. The Ultimate Tank can still do a fair bit of damage since the tank classes (Fighter and Mystic Knight) that you want to level up mostly still have high damage stats while levelling and Mystic Knight has the best buffs in the game. Cannon Spam is basically easy mode but it requires time and space to set up which means its only really usable in boss fights, you want to build towards as much attack as possible, try to keep them equal with a slight advantage to magick, you will then need 4 abilities, on your melee weapon equip Full-Moon Slash and Great Cannon, on the shield equip Dark Anguish and the Holy weapon buff (forgot the name), during a boss fight let your pawns distract the enemies and when you have a second lay down 3 Great Cannons right next to each other, aim towards the boss, then spam Full-Moon Slash, every second around 30 orbs will launch straight at your enemy melting their health in seconds. Its the highest DPS in the game beating even a well built Assassin's Dire Gouge but its harder to use so the Dire Gouge is usually seen as the better option.

The Assassin is my favorite class in the game and I've played so much of it that I know the class by heart. The Assassin can use the combined arsenals of the Fighter and Strider classes (meaning the primary slot can be sword or daggers and the secondary slot can be shield or bow), it also has its own unique abilities for these weapons, such as Dire Gouge for the sword or invisibility (which sucks ass) for the daggers. The Assassin also has the highest physical attack gain per level up of any class, even in the weakened 100-200 range it beats most 11-100 class's gains, however it has little magick attack, defense, health, or stamina gains, I'd personally suggest taking around 50 levels as Ranger to keep the stamina up. They also have some of the best damage Augments in the game, Bloodlust and Autonomy make an Assassin a force to be reckoned with and can effectively solo the game (in fact, Autonomy requires being alone to work). My preferred abilities for the swords is Burst Strike, Intimate Gambit (which I will occasionally switch to Great Windmill because fun moves are fun), and Clairvoyance or Dire Gouge depending on if I'm facing a boss. For daggers I like Thousand Cuts for normal use or surprise bosses, Cutting Wind, and Gale Harness. For shields I like Shield Drum, Showdown, and Shield Storm. Finally for bows I use Fivefold Flurry, Mighty Bend, and Lyncean Sight. I play extremely aggressively and always try to take the initiative so I think these skills work well.

I've been playing a Magic Archer for a bit now and just remembered about this build. Came here for some tips and was pleasantly surprised. Boon/Affinity spells can be made to work on skills that already have an elemental archmagic assigned to it? I was like 99.9% sure it only affected True Seeker on Magick Bows. How'd you get the Fire Affinity+Hunter Bolt tactic to work? That seems like it would kick ass.

You were correct, the Magick Bow abilities already have pre-set elements to them, enchantments only affect the basic magical shots. Things like Sixfold, Hunter Bolt, etc already have elements tied to them. Hunter Bolt is already a fire ability, so Fire Affinity would have no effect anyway.

There we go :P Just trust what other people say, I'll be honest and say that my understanding of the game is not complete, so I didn't even notice that Fire Affinity + Hunter's Bolt wouldn't work. Will fix that up in the build, so thank Ebonslayer :D
