    POTENTIAL SPOILERS WARNING

Personally, I think Sun & Moon are the best Pokemon games to date. The game feels fresh because of the removal of gyms and the overall focus on story makes the game feel longer and much more progressive as well as much more engaging than other titles. I'll make a this a list.

    Pros:

    Storyline focus.

    Character development.

Fresh, but still feels like Pokemon.

Interesting Pokemon call mechanic to change up battles.

    NO MORE HMS!!!

Rotomdex, love the talkative little guy.

    Team Skull are hilarious.

    Lusamine is amazing and terrifying.

Island challenges were appropriately handled, instead of making them gyms under a different name.

    Gladion is a great rival.

    The new Pokemon Ami system.

Return of choosing your own clothing.

    RETURN OF RED AND BLUE.

Got teary eyed when Lillie left for Kanto.

    Cons:

    Fishing sucks now.

Removal of Super Training and PPS.

Finding people for PvP and Trading is all kinds of stupid.

    Less variety of clothes.

Holding back Mega Evolution until the endgame.

Wally has Mega Altaria instead of Mega Gallade.

Red and Blue's themes don't do them justice.

    What do you guys think?

They took out HMs?? HERESY. I knew...I knew that Diamond and Pearl marked a turning point for the series. Now look where we are. Storylines?? New battle mechanics?? BAH. These kids and their damn technology. Back in my day, we didn't even have running shoes and we had to be happy with it!

EDIT: Ahem. But seriously. I can't actually speak for anything beyond HMs at this point but it sounds like pokemon is going for a story-driven narrative with character customization and I can't be angry about that.

Hey, glad there is a Pokemon discussion. My question may not be 100% fitting, but I'll give it a shot: does anybody play Pokemon Sun/Moon on a 2DS? I've been wondering about the actual performance on the 2DS as I've read reports about the game lagging sometimes even on the 3DS. I have my eyes on a used 2DS with Moon pre-installed for 70€ which is a good price even if the color is that ugly babyblue...

I haven't played or seen any of it really however, when I saw this I tried to look for a list of the new pokemon with pictures. While I didn't really end up finding much, I did find the Alolan forms, and I have to say it was better than I expected, unlike other generations after 4 there's actually some designs I really liked!

Specifically the Alolan Sandslash/Sandshrew, it looks so cool! As does Marowak's new form and Vulpix/Ninetails.

Some of the others though, namely Dugtrio, downright comedy gold.

I might actually get this game.. maybe. also

Please explain, what do you mean? (Is it like Colosseum?)

I still haven't bought it, and I'm not entirely sure if I will. Pokemon to me lost a lot of appeal from X and Y forward. I'm mostly just not a fan of the new art style for the overworld (I get why they decided to shake it up, but I prefer the older artwork).

That being said, I am a huge fan of the Sun and Moon Pokemon and how they've changed competitive play. I've really enjoyed the slower, defensive take that a lot of the new Pokemon focus on, rather than previous generations being all about speed. That's always been closer to my preferred style so the new generation has added a lot of Pokemon that really let me focus on defensive teams rather than playing against my strengths. So the Pokemon themselves are awesome, but I just don't think I'm a huge fan of the game, or at least I'm not willing to blow $60 on a DS Game.
