Bloodborne Build: The Soldier

The Soldier is the best build for any beginners in Bloodborne, simply due to the fact that you can wield almost any weapon in the entire game. This is overall the strongest PvE setup in the game, as well (in my opinion). Let's get started, shall we?

    ...Beasts all over the shop...

    The Basics

Origin: Military Veteran. After fighting in a bloody war north of Yarnham, Corbin was left with a punctured lung, three cracked ribs, and a shattered kneecap. His life was over, but not for long. Whispers of a miracle medicine that could cure any illness, any injury, were being spread. To get this remedy, though, you needed to go to the city of Yarnham. Corbin was desperate to get cured, so he spent all of his savings on a carriage ride south. He would get cured all right, but Yarnham was not the sanctuary he thought it would be.

Right Hand: Ludwig's Holy Blade. For our stats, this is the highest damaging weapon available, not to mention the godlike range and moveset. This is where you'll want to put your Blood Rock.

Left Hand: Hunters Pistol (parry gun) and Cannon. The Hunters Pistol can be swapped out for the Blunderbuss (always use the Blunderbuss for PvP), but I prefer the range of the pistol in PvE. The Cannon is the highest damaging gun in the game. It demolishes smaller enemies (and invaders/hosts) and takes huge chunks out of bosses, especially if you use Bone Marrow Ash.

Apparel: Hunter Set. Not only does it look badass, but it also has a huge resistance to Frenzy, which is absolutely crucial in late game. It is great that you can get it so early on in the playthrough.

DLC Notes: (No spoilers, the items mentioned here are random loot found throughout the world) The DLC adds a ton of new weapons, guns, and armor. One of the most notable weapons that we can use in this build is the Whirligig Saw. The jumping attack does insane damage, and if you hold L2 while the saw is connected, your character thrusts it forward and holds it out while the blades continuously spin (I like to call this move the "Lawnmower", or the "Boss Shredder"). Also it seems to have a stronger stagger effect than Ludwig's Holy Blade.

As far as armor goes, the best set I've found so far is the Harrowed Set. It has strikingly high stats, and is one of the best sets in the game, if not the best. I alternatively roll with the Old Hunter Set, as it looks exceptional.

    Level 100 Stats

    Vitality: 35, Endurance: 30, Strength: 30, Skill: 30, Bloodtinge: 10, Arcane: 15

As you can see, this is a very balanced build, as far as stat distribution goes. Most builds would go 45 Vitality with only 20 Endurance, but I prefer the extra stamina for extra dodging and weapon swings. The 30 Strength and Skill allows us to wield almost every weapon in the game and it also adds huge scaling bonuses to Ludwig's Holy Blade. The 10 Bloodtinge will slightly increase the damage of our guns and the 15 Arcane will allow use to use certain Hunter Tools (I only did this to try them out. A more optimal setup would be to take 5 points out of Arcane and add them to Vitality or Endurance).

    Gameplay

For the majority of the time, I had my Ludwig's Holy Blade in it's bigger form. This is because it has a longer stagger effect on enemies and it also has a huge range; probably one of the longest in the game. The Blood Gems that you would want to put in your Ludwig's Holy Blade are ones that increase your base damage.

I only used the Holy Blade in its small form when I needed to parry an enemy with my Hunter Pistol or I wanted quick damage with the Cannon. Do note, however, the Cannon takes eight Quicksilver Bullets to shoot once. Considering you can only hold twenty bullets at a time, use the Cannon sparingly.

As far as actually fighting enemies goes, there is really nothing to be said. You can't really tell someone how to play this game. You just have to learn it for yourself. But one piece of advice I can say is this: you are always going to want to take advantage of the health regain mechanic. After you get hit, you have a short amount of time to regain all of your health back. It isn't as simple as it sounds, though.

    Conclusion

I know it may seem short, but the complexity of the game comes from learning the movesets of your weapons and fighting enemies. There is no map, no quest marker, nothing. More than likely you will have to look up a guide. I know I did. Speaking of guides, here is the one I used: Guide

This game is hard, but hopefully this build will help you and your adventures through Yarnham.

...You'll be one of them, sooner or later...

Hi there Gollum, nice work and it's good to see another build in the group. I would probably try and include a few new tips and maybe if you know a decent guide then you could link that in the Gameplay section. I get the origin being the basic bit from the game but if you expanded it so that it was more of a Backstory it could be more interesting.

Nice work on the presentation especially Gollum and just like Albino's I'll feature this for 24 hours. I'll probably do that in about 30 minutes.

    Gotcha

I saw the Backstory that was added and have to say that it does bring a fair bit to the build. It definitely increases the vibe that my small amount of time (read my reloading after dying) in the game has given me. Just to clear up any confusion the feature from earlier was for promotion not to put it up for deletion (So far the only reason a build would be deleted was if it was completely unplayable). Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

    I figured it out.

Screw it, without the amount of Dark Souls/Bloodborne fans around the site I'm surprised this hasn't pulled a little more attention. I'll give this another bump

Damn, when I seen that picture I was hoping this was going to be a cane build but oh well. Cool build regardless

Man whoever came up with the idea for the Cane was great (or just watched a lot of Anime :P) either way that weapon made even redoing. The tutorial a bunch of times bearable just to decide that yes it was the coolest weapon in the game.

I have it set to whip mode constantly so I can run around pretending Bloodborne is the Castlevania game I always wanted,

LOL I actually hate the cane, I always start with the Saw Cleaver :P
