    The Wayfaring Arbalist

    Introduction

This is a Co-op build designed around helping other players and showing them secrets and hidden pathways. You are not the main fighting force with this build but more of a supporting guide for fellow Chosen Undead.

    How to get summoned

First you need the White Sign Soapstone, you get this item wven you first meet Solaire after the Taurus Demon boss.if you step on the bridge to your left should be the bridge to youre right should be 2 sets of stairs leading down towards a sunbathing Solaire. Answer all his questions with yes and voila you have your stone.

Now comes the important part. This involves your Soul Level. You can only be summoned by other Chosen Undead that are around the same Soul Level as you are. First you need to use the stone which scribes your Summon Sign on to the ground below you. You can only place your sign in areas that allow for online play. You will see if you are in a non online area when the Soapstone is greyed out. Examples for non online areas are Firelink Shrine, Andre's Forge or all Boss Rooms. You can't leave the area where you placed the sign since it will dissapear. For example you can't place your sign in the Cathedral housing the Gargoyles and then visit Andre.

Now we come to the last and to be honest the most important part. You can be summoned and summon people 10 Soul levels above and below you, example when you are Soul Level 48 then you can reach down to 38 and up to 58. But there is a small added bonus. You always add the first number of your Soul Level to the 10. Meaning when you are level 10 you have a range of 11 levels up and down, level 20 gets you 12 levels up and down and so on. Once you hit 100 though then you add the first 2 numbers meaning on level 100 you have a range of 20 up and down. Now if we would add the Soul level bonus to the previous example then you would get from 48 up to 62 and down to 34. You  can mostly determine what area has what soul level range by looking at youre own level when you entered it. So for example The Gargoyles are around Soul Level 15-20, Sen's Fortress is around Soul level 30 to 40 and so on.

    Statistics

Starting Class: Warrior, to get to the desired Soul level with the following stats.

Soul Level: 45, mainly because you will help in the harder areas in the early game, namely Anor Londo and Sen’s Fortress.

    Vitality: 25, for good survivability.

Attunement: 8, this build does not use any kind of Magic. But of you want to raise the builds level i would advise putting a few points in here for a few helpful Pyromancies such as Poison/Toxic Mist or Power Within if more damage is needed.

Endurance: 31, enough to allow you to fast roll and have a good pool of Stamina.

Strength:14, this is the base requirement for the main weapon which will have no scaling so increasing Strength would provide no benefits.

Dexterity: 20, mainly for the backup weapon.

Resistance: 11, don't touch this one it's useless.

    Intelligence: 9, not used.

    Faith: 9, not used.

Covenant: This is up to you, i myself don't like the golden shine you get from the Warriors of Sunlight but if you want to go ahead and join.

    Equipment

    Weapons

This builds main weapon is the Heavy Crossbow obtained above the boss fog of the Gaping Dragon.

It will be infused with Lightning and used alongside Lightning Bolts which can be bought from the Giant Smith. If faced with lightning resistant enemies switch to Heavy Bolts.

The backup weapon is the famed sword of Prince Ricard from Astora. You will find Prince Ricard inside Sen’s Fortress on a small optional path.

They Rapier is used with various Resins such as Charcoal or Rotten Pine Resin. The Heavy attack of this Rapier can quickly apply poison and is generally a fun weapon to use

    Armor

The chosen armor and rings are as follows.

    Head: Wanderer Hood

    Chest: Leather Armor

    Hands: Elite Knight Gauntlets

    Legs: Elite Knight Leggings

Ring 1: Havel's Ring, for the ability to fast roll.

Ring 2: Leo Ring, arrows and bolts count towards piercing weapons so if you hit an enemy mid attack with the crossbow you will do additional damage, the same goes for the Rapier. Bit feel free to switch this ring out with another ring of your choice.

This armor combination gives you enough poise to withstand small attacks like arrows or daggers but is light enough to allow you a fast roll. It also looks quite good in conjunction with the weapons.

    Usable Items

You can pick aĺl the support items you want, from firebombs to poison knives everything synergises with the builds gameplay.

    Gameplay

You will stay behind the Host and fire off bolts or initiate distractions with your Rapier. Lead new players to the various treasures inside Sen’s Fortress and Anor Londo and guide them through the dangers lurking inside these places. Remember you are no protector or warrior, support the Host, you are not the main hero here. Keep your distance and don't try to engage big enemies in melee combat, you are meant for long range support.

Here is the Mugen Monkey link.

If you guys are interested in more then i’m happy to upload more of my old builds. ^^

Sorry to start out with what might be a dumb question...but is Soul Level just the Level of the character or...something I don't get because I'm a lonely, boring solo player?

Either way, it seems like an interesting build, not overly powerful but packed full of support options and DoT effects right? That's cool, I like the idea of being a sort of guide/scouting character almost, you know...Very cool, very interesting and a neat little build. Oh, I would say that it might be useful to provide a bit of basic information on how summoning works for those that don't know. Just a quick thing at the top would be nice to have, you know. I would go through and check out some of those double spaces (my worst nightmare >.>) but yeah absolutely would be interested in seeing what a few builds look like for more combat-oriented

Hah, good work not making me feel too dumb with that one mate :P

Yeah, I mean I know how to summon NPC's and all but got no idea how to go co-op or any of the rules around that. I mean, I'm probably never going to because I like pain and suffering playing through the game myself, but it'd be nice to know how in a support focused build.

That's actually interesting to me, because I tend to see people playing it as either Tanks (I assume with Havel's Ring to allow for faster rolling and all that) or, well Mages but not Archers so I'm really curious about how combat functions with that as the main weapon.

Yeah that's definitely some useful stuff about summoning, had no idea about 90% of that. Seems like a nice system tbh. Uh anyway, yeah I would be interested in seeing that bow-focused build, because I love the idea of using them but have no idea how to go about it.
