     - The Peacemaker -

      Class Type: Institute Western Unstoppable Murder Machine – Gunslinger & Sharpshooter

      Inspired By: Westworld; Terminator T-800; The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (mainly The Ugly since he's my favorite); The Magnificent Seven; The Hateful Eight; Django; Godless; a bit of Ellie (The Last of Us); even Bladerunner

      Description: Have you ever questioned the nature of your reality? How is it that a woman from a world so much more… peaceful than ours, having no survival or combat training and experience to rely on, is prepared to confront any threat that the Wasteland can throw at her right from the start of the journey into this death maze of post-apocalyptic debris? How is it that she can sit idly and oblivious in a broken chair for hours and hours, day, night, repeat with her view fixated at the same point in space and without flinching a muscle? And why is it that every time she attempts to set foot past the borders of the Glowing Sea, a single definitive compulsion takes hold of the mind and freezes the body in place… not another step forward… “You can’t go that way”. It’s as if…

    =================================

    "I’m afraid in order to escape this place, you will need to suffer more."

    ================================

    Given that Westworld is one of the main source media that inspired me to play this final version of the character, I find it only fitting that I’m at the fourth iteration of the build, with the first one going back to my very first Fallout 4 playthrough. But let's forget about that and see what it's all about! Technologically speaking, the Peacemaker is not the Institute’s most advanced synth by far. No, she’s an old Gen. 2 prototype. Old, but not obsolete! Her body is built with a theoretically indestructible Adamantium skeleton and various mechanical parts of the same metal, all covered in a solar bio-regenerative layer of skin. She’s built to outlast her targets no matter how bad the odds of survival are. When shit hits the fan and the Synth Retention Bureau needs something critical done a.s.a.p., like retrieving a rogue synth from a strongly defended raider camp, they send in this indestructible metal machine. Because you can bet your ass she’ll be back with the mission complete, no excuses and, most importantly, no questions asked. All she needs is a .44 Revolver pistol, a double barrel shotgun, a one hand swinging reloadable lever-action rifle and a black hat. She’s the fastest gun in the Commonwealth, a skill that earned her a secondary name among wastelanders… Hellraiser!

     - Backstory -

      - Synth Generation: 2

      Model: Peacemaker

      Designation: E7-73 (a.k.a. Elle’)

      Full Name: Helena "Hell" Raiser

      Turing Test Result: Passed

      Notes: Synth E7-73 is a one time only built prototype with the goal of bootstrapping consciousness and achieving controlled artificial intelligence via adaptive machine learning. Top Institute scientists argued that the idea, while radical at first, was to erase a synth’s mind, give it a convincing backstory that would make it believe it is human, then send it on the surface, physically passing as a human and observe whether or not, it could blend in within the population of the Commonwealth. In order to eliminate any chance of an unforeseen termination, E7-73 had its skeleton and internal parts built out of Adamantium, a metal so resilient that it could theoretically withstand the full force of a missile. In addition to this, a covering layer of solar bio-regenerative skin was applied in order to make… it, now referred to as her… indistinguishable from a human. If someone were to remove the skin off her face, they would be terrified at the sight of a red eyed metal skull looking back. E7-73’s theoretically indestructible body however would not had been enough to survive in the wasteland. So as a final measure, a Robotics team of elite software developers and quality assurance engineers worked day and night on highly complex backend code subroutines named Reveries. Elle’, as she came to be nicknamed over time, would be able to attend rigorous combat training, have her mind wiped and then repeat this process several times. Train. Blank. Repeat. Practice makes perfect and repetition makes it permanent. With the Reveries installed and her mind wiped one final time followed by the successful migration of her human backstory, she would be sent to the surface… and every time her programming would evolve towards gaining artificial intelligence she would unconsciously access her previous wiped "build versions" containing combat training and survival skills. A certain quality assurance engineer called these level ups. Elle’ would not be aware of this at all. She’d think she’s just a human survivor following her… instincts.

    "We gave all of the Synths a backstory. And in time we came to believe the tragic ones worked best, that it made them more convincing."

    Backstory: To put it simple, all that running from the nukes, hiding in Vault 111, witnessing the husband getting killed and the baby being kidnapped is just programming that not even Elle’ is aware of. Everyone spreading rumours in the Commonwealth about her being the vault dweller is either a Synth in disguise or a paid asshole strategically placed by the Institute to convince everyone, including her, of this backstory.

     - Gameplay -

    "These violent delights have violent ends."

           While Elle’ had been long deployed to the surface by the time the first Gen. 3 Synths were built, her combat training is what laid the foundation for the Courser program. You might say the Peacemaker is a Courser too but she’s surpassed them long before the first one had even been greenlit. Dealing with the scum of the Commonwealth can be an enlightening experience. Over time, in genuinely thinking she’s a normal human and seeking to band together with others to increase her odds of survival, the Peacemaker has joined the Minutemen and thus developed a taste for the old western way of life. But the ugly truth is that she is oblivious to the fact that she’s just puppet for the Institute. She’s not even aware of doing their work. There are often times when she departs the Minutemen to recover rogue Synths or deal with the Brotherhood of Steel. If someone were to catch her right in the middle of an Institute bloody errand and ask what’s happening, she would simply reply with “I see nothing wrong with it” or “What are you talking about?”. That would be her programming taking over and making her oblivious to the horrendous acts she is commiting. She’s an AI but she is controllable without her knowledge.

     Indestructible Metal Machine

      Perks: Armorer; Refractor; Toughness, Lifer Giver, Aqua Girl; Adamantium Skeleton; Solar Powered; Lone Wanderer (so no companions!); Medic

      Armor: Sunglasses, Cowgirl Hat, Leather and Metal!

      Recommended Mods: Any Armor On Any Clothing

      Description: The Peacemaker may not be able to fully withstand a nuke or an Assaultron’s laser beam, but she’s as tough as a T-800 terminator gets, a walking tank. I’ve spent points in all resilience increasing perks just so that this character would simply walk, and I mean WALK, up to a deathclaw’s face and shoot the beast at point blank range. For armor, given the Westworld and Terminator themes of the build, I couldn’t recommend anything other than Leather and Metal with maybe some Road Leathers, some shades and a cowboy hat. For end game however, I recommend installing the Armor on Anything mod and combining the Courser uniform with metal armor, a pair of sunglasses and a black cowgirl hat.

    ==============================

     Fastest Gun In The Commonwealth

      Perks: Gunslinger; Rifleman; Awareness; Penetrator; Action Girl, Quick Hands, Gun Fu; Scrounger; Gun Nut; Lockpicking

      Guns: .44 Pistol => Western Revolver; Double Barrel Shotgun => Combat Shotgun; Laser Musket => Hunting Rifle => Lever-Action Rifle

      Optional: Sniper Rifles

      Description: The old western way of a firefight… that’s how the Peacemaker rolls. Leave behind any thought of high tech weapons and start counting your bullets! The high resilience of this build compensates a lot for the overall reduced and slow fire rate of those revolvers and shotguns. Stay focused, pick your targets and take them out. No need to rush, this Synth is built to endure! Also, don’t shy away from using VATS. This is in part a Terminator build so there’s nothing closer in Fallout for that red coded perspective. Speaking of red, I highly recommend changing the Pip-Boy color to black and white to get that old western movies style and the interface color to red remininscent of the Terminator's point of view.

     - Closing Notes -

           There you have it, an Institute character build from a strong Railroad supporter such as myself. I was pretty skeptical at first about all this but as I played more and more it all just became so much awesome. Before ending this I want to credit https://raveonmia.deviantart.com/art/Pip-Boy-Flash-2-61291619 for coming up with the terminator pip-boy from the second picture and https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/16800/ for enabling me to photoshop the Peacemaker in various cool poses. And other than that, what can I say more? I'll be back with more builds!

    My favorite perk spread on the site. The header image too...hell all of the artwork is simply incredible. Def a great westworld inspired build. Frankly I doubt I’ll be post my Delores version. You’ve done way more justice to the source than I could. Kudos brother.

    You should post it, Motty. I definitely want to see your take on it.

    Wow, Noodles, yeah.  That perk spread is pretty damn sick. It's quite a combination of inspiration there for the cyberpunk event. Lots to draw on, haha, literally, many guns.

    Noodles! This is awesome! As usual your images are stunning and I will echo Motty and Liss about your perk spread image! You are always able to incorporate great original but fitting themese and vibes to your builds, both contentwise and the actual form of the write up. Really glad you were able to fit your Westworld build into the event! Thanks mate!

    Man this is wicked looking. I love how you made the images look. Very reminiscent of The Terminator. I really gotta watch Westoworld lol.

    The vibes I'm geting from this build make me want to play it while listening to "Seek and Destroy" by Metallica :D, so bad ass. You done a real stellar job with "The Peacemaker" Noodles.

    Motty, I've been working on this for the past six months so don't let that discourage you. If you have some ideas that you're confident with, go through with it.

    @ Everyone, the perkspread may be cool but I only just reimagined the Westworld attribute matrix for the Fallout in game perks. Take a look yourselves...

    Amornar, I think this build overall doesn't adhere to the cyberpunk theme but I guess its Terminator and Bladerunner roots make it fitting for the event.

    And guys, all I'm saying is that if you liked Bladerunner, you should probably drop everything and start watching Westworld. As a sci-fi fan, I honestly think it's my all time favorite tv show. The level of quality is extremely high and there's nothing cheap about it. The acting, cinematography, sets, vestments, storylines and music (oh my god, the music) are all top notch!

    Haha, seek and destroy, that's a song I haven't listened to in almost a decade. But yes, it'd be a killer background song!

    Man, that perkspread is really something. I like the backstory, that's where the build shines in my opinion.The way she laid the basic for the Courser program is a great addition. I also like the presentation in the Terminator style POV. +1 from me buddy.
