Welcome everypony, to my first offering to the FCB’s Stranger Things Event. Inspired by my love of cosmic horror, as well as rewatching Gravity Falls and watching John Wolfe replay The Evil Within, I decided to create a character who would seek out the...mysterious Commonwealth locales. Presenting...

    The Eldritch Investigator

    (reading music)

Growing up, you'd always aspired to be one of those daring PIs you'd see on TV with your grandad. Through years of hard work, you eventually opened your own little office.

You often worked alongside the BPD, though often your cases turned....bizarre. From creepy cults to people disappearing around a corner, you saw it all. Your life changed when you rescued Nora Blackwood, the daughter of a respected judge from a cult within Dunwich Borers.

A few dates later, you were engaged. The rest, as they say, is history…

    SPECIAL

    Gameplay

The Eldritch Investigator combines stealth, gunplay, fisticuffs, and running to create the closest I've come to a “Survival Horror” type playthrough during my time of Fallout 4.

From Sanctuary Hills, head across the broken ridge, and head along the left side of the coast. Once you find a humming generator with a switch, flip said switch and follow the cable/pipeline. Alongside a hatch with three cap stashes, there’ll be skeleton near a snub nosed revolver, and some .44 ammo for it. This will be your primary short range firearm.

Your main approach combat will, if not detected yet, dropping into stealth mode, scouting out what and where your enemies are, try and see what gear, if any, they have on them, and try to either A. Sneak past as many of them as you can to whatever your objective is, or B. Try and land some sneak attacks in order to thin out your foes, and weaken tougher ones, like Legendary enemies. When you see enemies, like Feral Ghouls or melee-ready Super Mutants, start chucking Molotovs and laying down Frag and Bottlecap Mines.

Your other weapons will consist of, if you have Far Harbor, a scoped Lever-Action rifle, or if not, a classic, and quite powerful, scoped Hunting Rifle. Alongside that will be the Flare Gun Preston gives you. Along with being a nod to Alan Wake, you're able to call in some Minutemen backup, you'll do a tiny amount of damage to enemies.

However, another alternative approach, if possible, will be sneaking pass any unnecessary combat.

Investigating reports of Ferals gone wrong

    QUESTS

Main Character - Quite a personal mystery for the Sole Survivor. Who kidnapped Shaun, and why?

Far Harbor - Doing detective work? Looking for a runaway? Misty locale with a cult? Sign him up!

Brain Dead - A murder at the Cliff’s Edge Hotel? This calls for a detective.

The Disappearing Act - Diamond City’s local assistant bartender has vanished. You're on the case.

The Devil’s Due - What mysterious beast haunts old Salem?

Long Time Coming - Help Nick put old ghosts to rest.

Dunwich Borers - Back to where it all began….

Creeping through a dilapidated hall, ever wary

    THANKS

Nice to see the Nick side of things added in. Perfect fit for the character. You even get a nice upgrade in your .44 side arm from completing Long Road - Eddie's Peace. Heck I would even play that up a bit more. But yeah nice offering man.

OOOOOOO I'm digging the vibes here, Chris. I think I can 100% see what you were envisioning making, and I think you nailed it. Once I got to the quests section I could really see how this build would play out in game roleplay wise and I feel like it'd be a super fun character to really get into and experience. Great work :)

I like how you focused on investigations. Very neat concept. I enjoy Valentines Detective agency quests.
