    <000> string class = new string („Stealthy VATS Hacker Sniper & Skull Basher”) ---

    <002> cyb3rpunk::description.initAndDisplay() ---

    />/> Output: Initializing... Please stand by... 3... 2... 1... Cyberpunk, as defined in literature, is a subgenre of science fiction in a future setting that tends to focus on society as "high tech low life" featuring advanced technological and scientific achievements, such as information technology and cybernetics, juxtaposed with a degree of breakdown or radical change in the social order. The settings are usually post-industrial dystopias in which mega corporations, fueled by an insatiable greed, seek to control the common man via advanced technological means. By no stretch or exageration, the genre depicts a future in which the addiction to technology is so grave that freedom of thought and even individuality are held on a tight leash by those with virtually limitless influence and power. Keep this in mind the next time you pick up your smartphone to check those new facebook notifications... or interact with any black mirrored device, for that matter. All this encompasses the meaning of the „cyber” part of the word, but what about the other one? Misfit. Rebel. Hacker. Punk. As frightful as the genre’s theme may sound, its best stories are always about those who are brave or crazy enough to stick it to the people in charge, who fight for their freedom, who refuse to be part of the system and ultimately fight to remove it. In a society controlled by technology, what more of a threat can you pose other than by hacking it?

    <_If you can’t hack it and it doesn’t dance, eat it or throw it away_>

    />/> Developing this character build has been a lot of fun because it allowed me to draw inspiration from some of my favorite works of literature (Neuromancer by William Gibson, Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep? by Phillip K. Dick) as well as cinematography (Matrix, Bladerunner, Ghost In The Shell, Westworld, Dredd). Having a technological theme going on, I took the time to research Fallout’s lore on how the pip-boy’s VATS works yet I came up with jack squat. So, I had to think of my own version, specifically for this character. The Cyberpunk is a pre-war hacker who liked to f#ck with the government. Not much is known about her because a couple months before the nukes dropped, word is she succeeded in erasing all her digital records and giving herself a completely new identity. Some lawyer called Nora? It’s either this or, she’s a synth, because truth be told, all her memories up to the start of the war are kinda’ blury. It may be the shock of having a nuclear blast detonate a couple miles from her home or who knows? There’s also the fact that some unknown douchebag messed with her head during cryo sleep by fully linking a pip-boy to her cerebral cortex. That doesn’t help at all. Bottom line is, the cyberpunk can’t be sure of anything other than the fact that she’s a damned capable VATS coder. What's that? It means that she can develop VATS combat programs to virtually enhance her performance in a fire fight: visible trajectory projection of a grenade’s throw, path highlighting to an objective, night vision and many other schway stuff. But all this pales in comparison with the Skyrim mods she comes up with (hint, hint, this build is ideal for playing with mods, maybe even bring up the console).

     //_[Gameplay]

    <003> cyb3rpunk::gameplay.initAndDisplay() ---

    The gameplay is a mix of as much as possible stealth sniping alongside a companion coupled with frequent brutal engages in melee range, all while having the player’s in-game perception augmented by VATS and chems. This build doesn’t need an investment of many S.P.E.C.I.A.L. points after the initial customization, but it does require that bobbleheads be collected as soon as possible to unlock valuable perks such as Gun Fu or Scrounger. This being a VATS centric build, I would have normally invested a lot more into luck to get those critical strike boons but I’ve decided against it because it would’ve stagnated the character’s evolution. After all, I don’t want to start playing the character I want after level 50.

    <004> cyb3rpunk::gameplay.getGunsWeaponsAndExplosives(„Guns, Lots Of Guns”) ---

    />/> Perks: Big Leagues, Rifleman, Demolition Expert, Sniper, Gunslinger, Sneak, Ninja, Scrounger

    />/> Guns: Deliverer => Laser Pistol => Plasma Pistol; Sniper Rifle => Sniper Laser Rifle => Sniper Gauss Rifle; (Charging Shotgun Barrel) Tesla Rifle

    />/> Melee Weapons: Baseball Bat (Fencebuster), Shishkebab

    />/> Explosives: Any Grenades or Mines

    />/> Description: Since the start of the game, I’ve made it an objective to end up exclusively using energy guns due to the technological theme of the build. In the early levels I only had laser weaponry available hence why Scrounger was so invaluable. Shooting with a sniper was awesome and all but when I encountered groups of enemies in large numbers, I started mixing things up with pistols, explosives and, my favorite, the Tesla shotgun. Most of the times I encountered a Legendary or just plain resilient npc, I used the Automatron gun. The amount of damage done at the expense of a single fusion cell is astounding, especially considering that the electrical arcs jump from one npc to the others in close proximity. That being said, guns and explosives are fun and all but nothing invigorates the sensation of being a punk in combat more than bashing enemy heads with a baseball bat. It just feels like a street thing to do and the amount of weapon mods available for it does not disappoint. Further more, since this build has its roots in a Japanese influenced subgenre, the use of the Shishkebab is not an opportunity to be missed.

    _______  _______

    <005> cyb3rpunk::gameplay.getChemsAndVATSPrograms(„Through The Rabbit Hole”) ---

    />/> Perks: Awareness, Night Person, Penetrator, Concentrated Fire, V.A.N.S., Medic, Hacker, Scrapper, Chemist, Robotics Expert, Blitz, Gun Fu

    />/> Chems: Jet, Psycho, Med-X, Berry Mentats, Grape Mentats (if you’re into romancing a certain companion and need a Charisma boost, in addition to the bonus granted by Fashionable Glasses and Agatha's Dress)

    />/> Description: VATS and chems like Jet or Berry Mentats give the Cyberpunk the means to augment her perception of reality. As she gains more experience and levels up, the punk uses her coding skill to write new VATS programs that allow her to better: assess an enemy’s weaknesses, increase weapon accuracy or even dinamically calculate the safest yet fastest way to get close to someone, enough to land a blow to the head, while at the same time tricking her brain into pumping adrenaline for increased run speed. Chems, as they are carried around in limited quantities, should be kept for those „Oh Shit!” moments. Like when you come across a Legendary npc wth an automatic rifle that shreds the health bar to pieces in a matter of seconds. In these circumstances Jet is always a life saver. Or when you’re having a hard time assessing the vast number of people shooting at you (i.e. the raider group(s) at Qunicy), remember to use those sweet Berry Mentats followed by a well thrown grenade.

    _______  _______

    <006> cyb3rpunk::gameplay.getModsAndCompanions(„Curie Is The Best”) ---

    />/> Perks: Blacksmith, Chem Resistant, Scrapper, Science!

    />/> Mods: Any Armor On Any Clothes, Atom Cats Radio, More Where That Came From Diamond City, Take Cover, Atom Cats Rule, Any Other Mod

    />/> Companions: Curie, Deacon, Ada, Codsworth, Dogmeat, (maybe) Piper and Nick Valentine

    />/> Description: I tend to steer clear of mods unless they fix something because I like to play the game as it was made by the original developers. However, this character being what it is, I do not recommend playing it without them. It doesn’t need to be the ones I used though. Cyberpunk as a science fiction subgenre tends to always include two items in its distinct style: leather clothes and neon lights. If you take a moment and ask yourself where these things are encountered together in the Commonwealth, you’ll find out the answer is quite simple: The Atom Cats Garage. Having the Any Armor On Any Clothes mod installed, I gotta’ say I’m very happy with the look I came up with: Femme Fatale hair style (reminds me of Rachael Rosen a bit), Road Goggles, Skull Bandana Zeke’s Jacket and Jeans, Metal Legs, Sturdy Metal Arms and Disciples Metal Chest Piece. I did the same for Curie who was my chosen companion. If you choose to wander the wasteland alongside a companion, make sure to learn from the start everything they do and do not like. For example, Curie hates it when addiction settles in from one too many chems. Luckily, having both the Chem Resistant perks active prevents this from ever happening.

     //_[Special_Abilities]

    <007> cyb3rpunk::specialAbility.get(„Bullet Time”) ---

    />/> Requires: Chemist, Any Variation Of Jet, An Equipped Pistol With Moderate Firing Speed

    />/> Description: Honestly, this isn’t much of a special ability, but the combo, simple to perform as it is, has saved my character’s life more times than I can count. What is even more cool is that while under the effects of Jet the jump distance is greatly increased, allowing leaps from one building to the next one. To quote Neo himself, „Woah...”. Alternatively you can use the Bullet Time mod.

    _______  _______

    <008> cyb3rpunk::specialAbility.get(„Run The Hackaton”) ---

    />/> Requires: Melee Weapon Equipped, Blitz, Robotics Expert

    />/> Description: Don’t you love it when an enemy Assaultron is running around and you pray to Atom that when it finally decides to fire its laser charge, you’re safe behind cover? Well, with this ability, that’s no longer a problem. Blitz in front of the damned tin can, hack it and turn it against its former allies.

     //_[Closing_Notes]

    <009> cyb3rpunk.callDestructor() ---

    />/> Description: And there you have it: the CyberPunk – an Atom Cat rebel set to hack the Commonwealth while tuned in to some cool Greaser Rock’n Roll. In case you’re wondering which faction I went with, that would be the Railroad (yet again). The CyberPunk is all for fighting oppression, therefore she won’t stand idle as fully aware synths are treated as slaves by the Institute. This, of course applies for people too. Oh what? You don’t agree with me on synths? Well you can go f#--... f#--... f#--... yo-... yo-...

    />/> Syst3m Err0r: A problem has been detected and VATS has been shut down to prevent damage to your Pip-Boy. To avoid future system crashes, please contact Vault-Tec Support or enter debug mode under the surveillance of a designated Software Test Engineer.

    Lots to be said for Cyberpunk, but I would only be repeating what MrBTongue says in his Bladerunner reviews and Cyberpunk topics. I like what you have done here a great deal, specifically:

    There’s also the fact that some unknown douchebag messed with her head during cryo sleep by fully linking a pip-boy to her cerebral cortex and it doesn’t help at all. Bottom line is, the cyberpunk can’t be sure of anything other than the fact that sheâ€s a damned capable VATS coder. What does this mean? But all this pales in comparison with the Skyrim mods she comes up with (hint, hint, this build is ideal for playing with mods, maybe even bring up the console).

    Fallout got meta, and that is awesomely clever!

    As always, though, feedback from me regarding perks and weapons is lacking to the point of non-existence, but everything else from presentation to interpretation of a theme is as sweet as moments lost in time... like tears in rain. I freakin' love this build.

    Well done Noodles. I do feel like this stands on it's own and should not really be a radio stars build. Psst...don't forget to tag it :)

    I love the VATS / Hacker vibe and makes me want to watch blade runner. The pick of her and curie is just perfect. I cna't recall any build feautring the Tesla Shotgun and I'm glad that's remedied. a perfect fit. IMO.

    Nice touch on the coded presentation.

    Always with you and the freakin Raliroad :)

    All right, I've updated some pictures and provided links to mods. That should be it. Two weeks from now when I return from my vacation I should be able to upload a video too. :D

    Hey Motty, are the number of tags ok? I understood that every build is allowed:

    -the mods tag, if it uses

    -the game tag

    -up to 5 gameplay tags

    Is this correct?

    Back when we were trying to decide whether to add more tags that consisted of groups of tags, I simply upped the tag limit to 5 from 3 (and didn't tell anyone) :D

    So yes, you're good.

    Knowing how big Bethesda is on lore and world building I was surprised to find out they did not provide an explanation on how VATS works. But I'm sure that the lack of information won't cause another Dragon Break and it did provide me with the means to cool backstory. I haven't heard of MrBTongue until now. I should visit his channel and see what he has to say. :D

    Really enjoyed reading this Noodles. You clearly enjoyed this build a lot and it shows in the right up. Now you just need to play something that isn't a railroad character. :P

    Is this a no Charisma build? I see that you have no Charisma in your SPECIAL picture.

    Indeed. The only times I needed it was when I flirted with Curie. I temporarily achieved 10 by equipping the Fashionable Glasses with Agatha's Dress and by taking a dose of Grape Mentats.
