Flynn Taggart, the man who would become the Commonwealth's ultimate warrior, began life in Boston. Born to a hard working and long suffering mother and a drunken father who was a compuslive gambler and doer of odd jobs for the local mob, young Flynn decided he would never follow in his father's footsteps. Being a gigantic Grognak the Barbarian fan he learned concepts such as honor and heroism, finding a positive male role model in the fictional barbarian. Throughout his childhood he was a fairly bright student but would always be in and out of the principles office for getting into fights with bullies and would do so in attempts to play the hero for other kids and due to his issues with his father has a blistering rage towards injustice and those who do not act honorably.

At age 18 he immediately signed up to join the Marines because with the war with China it was the most honorable thing he could do in his mind. It was during his shoreleave and before his last tour in Alaska, that he would return home to meet a young law student named Nora. After a six month courtship, a marriage propsal, and a quick civil wedding followed by a short honeymoon to Far Harbor before he was shipped back to Alaska, Taggart honestly felt like his life was going great.

When his commanding officer orders his company to shoot a band of Japanese-American citizens, believing them to be be enemy soldiers incognito Flynn tried to reason with him and when unable to persuade the stubborn CO, he beat him bloody in a fit of rage to prevent the slaughter. However mortar fire from the Chinese killed most of his squad and the CO. Brought to military court shortly after this, but with little evidence to go on Flynn is discharged from the military.

Going home to see his wife and son makes the world alright in his opinion and he loved the weeks of civilian life with his family, but the bombs soon fell and they were rushed into Vault 111.

The Doom Marine is somewhat cocky, rather intelligent, well-worded, mechanically gifted, loyal, and in some ways, arrogant. With all of this in mind The Doom Marine rips and tears into the Wasteland with

    5 Strength

    1 Perception

    5 Endurance

    5 Charisma

    6 Intelligence

    5 Agility

    1 Luck

As for perks the Doom Marine will be using The Rifleman, The Lone Wanderer, Gun Nut, Science, and Commando to lay the ground work. You can pick and choose whichever other Perks fit your personal preference.

Hey, welcome to the group!!! :D I like a lot what you have going on here and it's a great start for a first time character build. So, allow me to congratulate you for your work! :) I do think however that your build would benefit a lot more from adding a gameplay section in which you'd dive in and explain what type of guns your character used (rifle, sniper or shotgun?), recommended armor and so forth. The more information you provide, the better everyone can understand how awesome this is. Also, which quests did you do? Any preffered faction? What's driving your character to survive in the wasteland?

Thanks for the input! It's my first time at the character build stuff in general, which yeah kinda shows. Anyway weapons wise it's a shotgun and automatic assault rifle or for earlier levels combat rifle. For Armor it would be metal or combat armor when, and while he's not adverse to Power Armor given the requirement of Fusion Cores he's more comfortable not using it if he can.

Factions wise it would need to be honorable factions. So we're looking at Minutemen or Brotherhood of Steel. The Doom Marine loves his combat in the name of a good cause which means either the Minutemen or Brotherhood of Steel would be the best fits for him, the Railroad is too quiet and subtle for his tastes.

He wouldn't agree with ALL of the Brotherhood's idealogies such as the persecution of all ghouls, or even all Super Mutants provided you take Strong as a companion, and considers Synths people... But still a threat. He WILL refuse to outright attack a Gen 3 synth unless they attack him first.

This would be a great addition to the writeup. Glad to see another Doomguy based build

If you could put more stuff like this in the discussion, it would be A LOT better! Also an additional picture wouldn't hurt at all. :)
