    Research Log

    Nathan “Raven” Carlick

    Knight – Brotherhood of Steel

General of a Commonwealth militia group, The Minutemen

Elder Maxon: I have compiled a comprehensive report, including all known documentation of the aforementioned subject, Nathan Carlick; aka, Raven.

While the subject remains a member of the Brotherhood of Steel in good standing, he has displayed a willingness to act on his own, even against orders. With the influence he wields throughout the commonwealth area, I agree with your assessment that he is too dangerous of an individual for us to be unaware of his capabilities. The following is a collection of documents recovered from pre-war facilities throughout the commonwealth, in addition to interviews with persons of interest.

Document Recovered: Fort Strong – The Commonwealth

Excerpt of the unfinished memoirs of Colonel Harland Wicks

    United States Army

Further Reading can by found in the Prydwin Pre-War Database Here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_Rangers

Incident Report – Recovered from Fort Bannister – Capital Wasteland

    United States Army

Further information on the connection between Raven and Lightbringer can be found in the Prydwin Pre-war database here: http://www.firstpeople.us/FP-Html-Legends/HowRavenBroughtLighttotheWorld-Haida.html

Recovered from Vault Tec Headquarters - The Commonwealth

Note: It is apparant from field observations that Knight Carlick's attirbutes have changed since this assesment. I have marked what I believe to be the appropriate changes in red.

Recovered from National Guard Training Center - The Commonwealth

The following documents the field equipment used and worn by Knght Carlick. Assembled by myself and Proctor Teegan:

RED FLAG – His Military Fatigues and Newsboy Cap are equipped with the same ballistic weave we have recovered on some Railroad operatives we have encountered. What is disconcerting is that the articles of clothing are not of the usual type we have found, which suggests that the modifications were made for him, or he has been taught to make the modifications himself. This lends itself to the suspicion that the subject has not been forthcoming about his involvement with an enemy of the Brotherhood of Steel.

The following is a collection of field investigation and interviews I have assembled. Some were direct investigations of Knight Carlick's activities, others were investigations the ended up leading back to knight Carlick

RED FLAG – Arial surveillance shows us that the tarp was in fact covering a heavy artillery battery. (see attached photos) In fact, all settlements loyal to the minutemen have at least one such battery, with multiple at their headquarters at the castle. If properly coordinated (and they have the ability to coordinate through their radio station) they have enough firepower any target in the commonwealth.

RED FLAG: Knight Carlick was given a direct order: to inform the Brotherhood of any information he had on the Institute. The fact it he had traveled to the Institute, the data recovered from their mainframe, the access into the water supply, and yet none of that information found its way into our hands.

RED FLAG – It is my belief that the tale is a demented version of the truth; that the black bird is supposed to be Knight Carlick, and that the grey ones are synths. Based on rumors, and intercepted radio transmissions, we believe there is an enclave of synths living somewhere on Far harbor. If this is true, then we have another instance of Knight Carlick consorting with enemies of the Brotherhood.

RED FLAG: Based on pre-war reports, the power plant Powering Nuka World is precisely the type of technology we expect our members to report to command. Here we have one more instance of Knight Carlick refusing to follow protocol.

Conclusions: Knight Nathan Carlick, aka Raven, is, as mentioned previously, a member of the Brotherhood of Steel in good standing. He has proven his mettle in battle, and assisted me with the retrieval of technical documents from areas throughout the Commonwealth.

But what can not be overlooked is the numerous times he has hidden information from the Brotherhood, consorted with the enemy, and defied direct orders. He has demonstrated a willingness to act on his own accord. He has demonstrated his competency in battle. He has demonstrated his ability as a commander of what has proven to be a significant force. If this force were to be unleashed against the Brotherhood, I can not be assured of the outcome.

Therefore, it is my opinion that Knight Carlick be considered a potential threat to the Brotherhood of Steel. That being said, I do not recommend direct action, for the following reasons.

As aforementioned, the force of the Minutemen is significant enough that Victory in a direct confrontation is in question. His individual skill in battle is at a level heretofore unattainable. Moreover; were we to succeed in eliminating the man; the myth would be a far more dangerous threat. As a martyr, the opposition to us would be unstoppable.

Well if that isn't a new way to present a build! Genius man really great stuff.

A few parts are a little blurry still (weapons), but all in all cleaned up real nice :)

Man, did I ever bugger up the tags! I'll have to fix that when I get back to my desktop on Monday. Motty: yeah, I'm only using microsoft paint, and screen capture off a PDF editor. I'm not overly happy with the whole thing, but it's the best I can do with what I got.

This build might be one of the most clever and well rounded presentations I have ever seen. I was looking for a good Ranger type build for Fallout 4, and this one is incredible. Awesome job, love the handwritten apps and such. Seriously awesome.

agreed Healer - probably the most uniquely presented build in the vault.

Double agreed. This build is thematically brilliant from top to bottom, inside and out. It's something that any builder can learn from.
