What started as a passing glance of one of the many comic books in Fallout 4 led to one of the most fast-paced and fun playthroughs I've had in any roleplaying game. The Starlet Sniper satisfies the desires for unique combat, engaging roleplay (that fits well within the Fallout universe), great aesthetics, and just all around a great experience

She's tough, she's beautiful, and she's the best shot in Commonwealth. She's the...

    Starlet Sniper

The Starlet Sniper at its core is a heroic, Western sharpshooter who through the use of jet (however for the sake of roleplay it's instead viewed as extreme skill and focus) is able to use a scoped lever action rifle to rack up high damage headshots (without the use of V.A.T.S.) and pull off impressive and entertaining shots to take down hostiles (don't worry, I have some footage to share). I normally hate being a goody two shoes for Fallout games, but The Scarlet Sniper's tough yet caring personality about her makes it enjoyable to go about offering help to the innocent people of the wasteland, and disposing of those who prey on them

Feel free to skip this section, this was simply a helpful stepping stone so I could thoroughly roleplay my character. I'm not a story writer xD

The wasteland sucks. It’s just that simple. At the end of the day the only law that truly exists in the wasteland is survival of the fittest. Well for Scarlet, being a 10 year old orphan girl made the wasteland go from seeming like a horror to hell itself, and she had no one to face it with. That is, until she came across a place called Little Lamplight. This place was a haven for children like her, and she came to love it very quickly. Not even the snarky jokes of Mayor Macready were enough to dull her happiness.

It was great, until she turned 16. Now being too old to stay in Little Lamplight, Scarlet had to leave and venture off into the wasteland. She would have been scared, except now she was ready for whatever she had to face. For 6 long years in Little Lamplight, Scarlet trained with Macready in marksmanship skills, and she was talented. As much as Macready would hate to admit it, she was a better shot than him. So with her lever action rifle, she went off in search of something great. As far as she knew, Scarlet’s old friend Macready had headed North towards the Commonwealth. Not having anyone else to care about, Scarlet followed, although he was about a year and a half ahead of her.

As Scarlet traveled she began making a name for herself: the Starlet Sniper. Eventually people would recognize her anytime she came into a new town, and they often asked her for assistance with whatever problem they were facing. Her sharpshooting skills and beauty had basically made her become a hero in the eyes of the wastelanders, and Scarlet gladly accepted this new title. Even animals were captivated by her confidence and beauty, providing the Starlet Sniper with some much needed travel buddies. So thus, Scarlet found a new purpose for herself: becoming a legend by taking down and taming the fiercest of enemies, helping those in need, and finding out where her old pal Macready is; and thus, the journey of the Legendary Starlet Sniper begins.

Strength(3):Scarlet is a dainty girl, however 3 points here down the road allows for upgraded versions of ballistic weave

Perception(8): As a sniper this is of course a vital stat, however not for the use of vats. The 8th point allows for the Sniper Perk which is important for our lever action rifle

Endurance(4): Not exactly a tough cookie but with low armor early on extra health is needed. Also chem resistant is helpful for someone who huffs as much Jet as Starlet

Charisma(5): Whether it be her looks or smooth words, The Starlet Sniper is always in control of every conversation. Also with her long journey in the Commonwealth, Scarlet's learned how to befriend animals, which helps to aid her loneliness and save her some bullets

Intelligence(6): Chemist is pretty essential for the sake of increasing Jet time so 6 intelligence here is needed

Agility(8): Speed is her ally and she's got lots of it. Plenty of helpful perks here ESPECIALLY Quick Hands

Luck(1): Not sure if it's just because I hate vats but I've never used Luck in a playthrough. Whatever, skills will beat luck anyday for the best shot in the wasteland

    Level 40

    Rifleman 5/5

    Gunslinger 3/5

    Life Giver 3/3

Chem Resistant 2/2: Even though jet addiction only results in -1 Agility the occasional use of other drugs just makes this perk helpful

Chemist 3/4: I personally felt like 2 points in here provided more than enough slow time from jet(plus having over 50 Jet on hand makes duration pretty irrelevant) however I figured for the occasional extra tough enemy getting 5 consecutive headshots without a break might make the third point worth it

    Armor Smith 3/4

    Toughness 3/3

Moving Target 2/3: helps for the initial rush into combat and ducking to cover from tougher enemies

Quick Hands 1/2: To me the only thing done wrong with lever action rifles is the reload mechanic, so unless you download a mod then this perk is essential fo situations where 5 shots don't cut it

    Sniper 2/3: Better aim control + stagger=profit

    Black Widow 1/3

Animal Friend 1/3: She's essentially the ranger of the Commonwealth, mongrels know not to mess with her, and she's happy to save the bullet (er, two bullets in Old Reliable's case)

    Gun Nut 4/4

    Lone Wanderer 2/3

Cap Collector 2/3: Makes buying Old Reliable and 1000 rounds of .45-.75 less painful

    Early Game:

    -Militia Hat

    -Red Bandana

    -Road Leathers

    -Leather Armor

    End Game:

    -Militia Hat

    -Red Bandana

    -Armored  Macready's Duster

    Weapons

    Old Reliable

This is, of course, the primary weapon of the build. If you don't have Far Harbor then sorry, there really are no half decent alternatives to the lever action rifles. Trust me when I say this thing is a HAMMER. Lining up headshots with Old Reliable is just devastating on any level of play with the proper mods and perks. Of course make sure to have the highest damage mod available installed as well as a Marksman Stock, Long Ported Barrel, Compensator, and Short Scope. Feel free to use some psycho for monstrosities like deathclaws and behemoths

Keeping with the western vibe, the .44 pistol makes a great and powerful sidearm either for  enemies who draw too close at the worst time or to finish off enemies when reloading Old Reliable isn't an option. I debated keeping a scope on it but after too many failed attempts at being cool with pistol quick scopes I realized its best to just keep the iron sights

Although not really used later on when its damage superiority starts to taper, the Double Barrel Shotgun makes for a great execution gun when fighting in super close range or against ghouls and such. It definitely has a home in the Starlet Sniper's arsenal; dealing justice to wasteland weirdos far and wide

    Notes on Jet

When I first thought of the idea for this character I was worried I would run into a problem of not having enough jet and constantly having to scrounge for it. Boy was I wrong. Simply by buying the two bags of fertilizer that every general goods merchant has a supply of, jet is always ready to be crafted. Even when using it for almost every engagement I rarely fell below 40 jet. Just make a habit of crafting up some during every trip to town.

Although this has already been touched on I'll just make sure it's clear how combat works: pop some jet (and maybe buffout/psycho if the situation calls for it) get in the MIDDLE of the chaos, and do some Call of Duty quick scopes to everyone's head. When in close range firing from the hip may also be effective. Depending on the enemy or number of enemies, a reload for the 5 shot Old Reliable might be inevitable so at that point it's the Starlet Sniper's choice of squeezing a reload in or whipping out the .44/double barrel shotgun to finish the job. Trust me, it's SOOO fun and satisfying to rack up 5 consecutive headshots without the use of vats.

Be sure to have fun with it! As you'll see in my video I jumped off the second floor of a building and in mid air spun around 360 degrees to take a shot just to take down a missile launcher-wielding gunner. Was that needed? No, but it was cool as hell. Creativity is what makes this build so fun

This being a Comic Book Event I should probably clarify what exactly makes the Starlet Sniper a hero:

    -Best shot in the Commonwealth

-She's a "legend of the wastes" so to speak; everyone's heard of her deeds and skill, to the point where she needs to hide her identity depending on where she goes

-The Starlet Sniper is heroic in that she's made it her duty to help those in need wherever she may find them during her journey(she only asks for money for her services from the more sleezy evil people she comes across)

Being a hero means that protecting the innocent is, of course, top priority. This is no
different for the Starlet Sniper. While she's comes across as a saint due to not really ever asking for money for her services, that's not to say she doesn't find a sort of sick pleasure in disposing of the scum of the wasteland. Going about in search of supplies only to decide to then dispose of a random group of raiders for no benefit is a pretty common act of the Starlet Sniper. Purging the wasteland does certianly help everyone though

As far as factions, she will choose to side with the Railroad because of her admiration for their selfless devotion to sacraficing their lives for others. Even if they are synths. Beyond this, going around being a badass sharpshooter that does legendary acts of bravery on a daily basis was really enough to keep things interesting from a roleplay perspective

Here's a quick video of the Starlet Sniper in action (Most is early game stuff but still pretty cool)

Potential updated video in the future

Well if you've read/skimmed all the way to the end then I do honestly appreciate it and would be even more thankful if you provided some feedback. I'm definitely loving character building and already have an idea for my next one. Special thank you to Golden Fool for making the sick SPECIAL spread! I hope you enjoyed!

I'll read it a bit later, but I have to say I enjoyed your video... song and everything. Do you want me to keep Astoundingly Awesome Tales and Starlet Sniper for your cover?

Agh sorry I didn't catch this till now! Totally chill though, I would've asked for Austondingly Awesome Tales so its perfect, thanks again Noodles. Also I certianly plan on making another video since I enjoyed the first one so much and now if I need a break from my other build I just run around in my Starlet Sniper character trying to take out baddies in the coolest way possible so I can just have a compilation of some sick kills after awhile. It will be lit

This is a really great build and I might have to try it out myself! One thing I did notice though is that you say to put a point into wasteland whisperer, but that is a charisma level 9 skill when you only have 5 points into charisma. Maybe you mean't animal friend? Anyway besides that it's a fantastic build and I can't wait to see more of them!

Wow to think I did so much re-reading and revising and still let that slip by! thanks for catching that Josh. I'm glad you enjoyed it and highly recommend trying it out if you get a chance, certainly a fun time for anyone
