This was the best place I could think of to ask this question:  So, my little brother (also plays Fallout 4) had what I think could be a great idea for an RP character build, and I was wondering if there was somewhere I could post the basic idea if someone better at character construction than I would want to maybe do a build on it?

In case anyone cares:  So, the MC was a scientist who, before/after his time in the military (I think it could fit the male SS better since being a lawyer is fairly time-consuming), worked with some resident researchers at one of the most prestigious universities in the area,  The Commonwealth Institute of Technology, and thanks to his work, the CIT pulled some strings to get him and his family into the Vault 111 list.   After finding out that the Institute is essentially the CIT, the MC would, maybe understandably, be much more supportive of the Institute.  This would leave the earlier levels to allow the player to do stuff like get Ballistic Weave with the Railroad, while still being 'in character'

That is a pretty neat idea and one I had worked on before. If nobody else picks this up I try and make one. Also, that is cool that your little brother thought of the idea.

Hmm yeah so you’re thinking of a like a “Research Professor” build? Something like that? I believe Maddmannatee is working on more of a BOS style Scribe researcher build right now. Might be interesting to see the different takes on it. I like it. A lot. Someone should start working on it.

Yeah, Madd is working a researcher build, he's mostly using it as a means to add more articles to the Travelers Guide.

I want to try a low intelligence Automatron build, sort of like a "Junk Rat" sort of character, uses only pipe weapons,  wears stuff like Raider Armor and Trapper armor (the kind of hobbled together sorts of armors), uses Automatrons, but can really only replace parts with other found parts, sort of type of thing.   Probably would be a raider eventually.   Can anyone think of a RP build sort of similar to this?  Doesn't have to be exactly like this, just kind of this feel, you know?

I love the idea, but how would this work exactly? You need Robotics Expert to make Automatrons if I remember correctly which requires level 8 Int. Also, i don't think there is a build like that on here.

If I remember right, you can build a base automatron, and build most of the basic armors (like the Factory stuff) with no skills at all, and you can replace any parts that you have, just like weapon mods, so, I think it could work...I may have to try and make one then :P

I think it can, I never really messed with Automatron,  and I encourage you to try it because a build based on Junk Rat seems pretty cool, man.

Build it Torbin! Sounds awesome. My Gearhead is only slightly similar, but he was more of an inventor/high science / high INT build with Atomatron and not nearly as stripped down/junky as your idea.

You could really play into the junky them with collecting junktown mags, and setup a little shop - like a junky swap meet settlement. could be really cool.

I agree. That would be fun. It's great to use Automotron. I'm using the dlc for my MagGyver build.

So go for it, a junky theme would be fun.
