Pretty good use of robot armor...makes me want to circel back to a build that utilizes robot companions again actually. Kind of like Crooks's Space Monkey!

Anyone have a build recommendation for a character who will be using Sim Settlements?

Hello Laurence. I think that any good builds with the Craftsmen tag is either crafting or settlement building. Looking through the list you can check them out and see if any jump out as a combat playstyle you like and supports good settlements. If you really want a true dedicated settlement builder I would suggest Ragin Cajun's Farmer's Wife which is all about settlements and Ragin has done a lot of work with Sim Settlements, posting some reviews and videos of his builds that you can access through his Youtube. I know he would be happy to answer any questions you have before and during your playthrough regarding the Sim Settlements mod regardless of which build you go with. Hope that helps.

So I'm looking for a build that will fitthis:

Flexible - I want to be able to use rifles pistols and melee with out being weak much

Able to see and use dlc- pretty self explanatory. I want to be able to experience all dlc options with it

Mods- I want to be able to use mods and not mess with the build to much

Fun- obviously I want it to be fun.

Please let me know if there are any that fit at least 3 of these. Or at least 2

hmm, pretty good options out there. Not 100% sure about MODS, but let's see:

    1. It's not live yet, but take a look at Ragin Cajun's Predator WiP

    2. I really love MaddMannatee's Radier King. It's fists instead of melee, but makes use of the dlc by creating a hit list of raiders

    3. Noodles' Samurai is pretty epic. More melee than guns, and heavy focus on the Automatron DLC.

It really depends on how you want to play. I can think of a number of builds that would fit that description, but the big questions are; do you want to be stealthy or not? Do you plan on using companions? Do you want to use VATS a lot, or do you want to go all FPS? Do you have an idea on where you want to go with the main quest?

If you are not interested in stealth or VATS: One of my favorite builds to play, and one that I have used as a template for other similar builds, is The Vanguard, by Casual Beers. With it's already high strength, it could easily be modified to a melee build.I have also modified the build to use automatic weapons.

If you want to go in a comptetly different direction the VATS Sniper build, Domino, by Mason, is another favorite of mine, and one that I have used as a template for my own variations. While the build doesn't have the strength for melee, the Ninja multiplier more than makes up for it. And with the high agility, you could easilt swap out some of the other perks for Blitz, which can make VATS stealth melee devastating.

I should've also stated I want to take advantage of settlements

Maybe have a look at my Stormblade build then. Melee, big guns, power armor, chems, alcohol, rifles can still be used, uses the raider settlement system from nuka-world and has some mod suggestions that can add to the options for power armor and such. http://tamrielvault.com/groups/topic/view/group_id/14/topic_id/8743

So as I am finishing up my last build for Radio Stars, I had one more build that I was working on but have gotten kind of bored playing the game. That's not a knock on the game in any way, for the last year and a half I have played pretty much nothing but fallout 4, with thousands of hours of entertainment. But it's about time to move on. In the last 18 months there have been a bunch of great games come out that I have been itching to try, and most of them I sould be able to pick up cheap at game stop.

But I still have a few ideas that could be turned into builds if someone wanted to. I thought before I bowed out, I would leave the ideas here:

The Fens Phantom: a stealth melee build, using the dirty black suit, battered fedora, and pickman's blade or throat slitter. My idea was that he would play a Railroad main story, as idealistic altruists would be a great place for a predator to hide.

Silent Steel: stealth power armor, with unarmed vats blitz damage being the main focus. The idea was based on the stealth field modification you can build at level 4 Science. I played this one a little, and despite the fact that the ninja perk doesn't give you the 10x multiplier, once you are able to build the tesla coil fists, it really doesn't matter. (I two-punched a mirelurk queen with it)

Talon Company: The opening story could be easily discounted as a "crazy dream I had while sleeing in a vault." You arrive at the comonwealth with the goal to expand Talon Company's territory. Ignoring the main story line, the build would focus on settlement building and ridding the commonweathe of your chief rivals, the gunners. Nuka world would also be an option, converting the Operators into a branch of Talon Company.
