So, aside from the Mark 3 Synth pieces, what level does Heavy Synth armor start appearing, and whats the easiest location to knab it?  Also, is there an easy way to reset inventories of merchants?

I have a level 63 character and I've never seen it dropped.

Great, I can find Heavy Combat Armor on some named Gunners, but no Heavy Synth armor. Guess a mix of Max 3 and Sturdy will do

Ok, maybe this one is filed under "dumb question," but can someone clarify how stat boosting apparel works?

If I add the minutemen hat with a +1 Charisma, and my base charisma is 2...does this "unlock" level 3 charisma perk (lone wanderer)? If so, what happens if I take off the hat? Do I suddenly lose lone wanderer? Or once you've perked something it sticks?

Can you tell I'm confused? :) Thanks.

Only 'hard' points invested in charisma can be used to unlock perks, the hat provides 'soft' points and won't allow it...

There are still advantages to wearing clothing though. Military Fatigues are a good one, 20 extra AP, better sneaking etc...

Thanks for clarifying. What do soft points in things like charisma do? Earn you a better chance at persuasion or better prices? Is there a resource I can look at! Thanks again

So, after doing Retaking Independence, can you still get Garvey as a companion>

Yeah, he get's removed during the quest but you can pick him up again straight after, he'll usually give you his perk about then as well...

    Basically yeah...

They probably have a very good effect on the pacify/command perks too...

Wearing a charisma boosting suit/glasses/hat has a notable effect on the prices in stores. Sea Captains Hat is another one of my favorites, +2 to endurance is a good bonus...

Fallout wiki has a good list here...
