    EVENT CLOSED

    West Virginia Boot Camp

A Fallout Build Event inspired by Fallout 76

Alright ladies and gentlemen of Tamriel Vault. As all of you with any Fallout interest know, Fallout 76 is coming in just a few months, with early access aka BETA starting even sooner. Many of you, like me, are super excited for this and just want to jump into the world of post-apocalypse West Virginia and start...well surviving. To pass some of that time...specifically September 1st to 30th….we will be having another Fallout build event!

This will be a survival challenge designed to push your abilities to survive in the Commonwealth (though you are welcome to participate with FO3 and FNV!) to the absolute maximum. However, this event is more than just hit your difficulty level to survival mode and play…..which leads to our biggest and most important restriction for the event…..NO VENDORS….. Yep, you heard me. No vendors, no buying anything in Diamond City, no C.L.E.O, no tier 4 settlement vendors…. This means no Overseer’s Guardian, no Spray N’ Pray….. no buying ammunition….chems… none of it. Likewise, your typical survival aspects such as food, hunger, disease, fast travel, thirst, carry weight, etc. should all be present as you work to survive.

This event is designed to push you outside of Diamond City, Goodneighbor and the like. Get out into the wilderness. You can use settlements, crafting, and are welcome to perform jobs and quests. However, Fallout 76 has showcased how they have no NPCs so don’t rely on NPCs, main quests, etc. in your event character. Explore! Get out, scavenge, set up camps, work to survive by yourself and prepare yourself for the challenges this autumn will bring when we go down that country road to West Virginia.

    Rules and Organizing:

-Your build should be played on survival mode, or with survival mode-like needs and restrictions put on your gameplay including no fast travel, thirst, hunger, carry weight, fatigue, etc. Additionally NO VENDORS, no buying or selling items of any kind.

-Completed event builds should be posted between September 1st to October 7th. You cannot post a build and continue to work on it in the Fallout Character Building group after this deadline. However, I do encourage you to post a WIP in the WORKSHOP during the event duration if you are looking for some feedback with the build, formatting, or general questions while you work on it.

-Event builds can be created and made for Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, or Fallout 4

-Completed event builds should be posted with the title “Event Build: (F03 / FNV / FO4) BUILD NAME”

-Completed event builds must have the tag "Event: Survival Boot Camp" in addition to the game and playstyle ones. You can find more information on the latter two in The Fallout Character Build Archives. Please ask myself or Mottyskills if you have any questions.

-The author of every completed and posted event build will also receive a special “West Virginia Survival Boot Camp” themed badge on their account related to the event.

-Mods are allowed and encouraged! FROST Survival Simulator immediately jumps to mind! Find some and share with others!

We invite all builders, veterans and newbies alike to participate. All are welcome and encouraged to submit their creations to fuel and grow our burgeoning library of builds that lives here on TamrielVault. So scavenge some junk, mod up your gear, grab some stimpacks, and get ready to survive!

Please do not hesitate to ask any questions from us in the meantime. For help with Survival builds, we suggest reading Ponty's Survivor's Log which is a Tips & Tricks style list as well as the Tagged Survival Builds from our Archives. Good luck and I look forward to each of your builds!

Yay! Can you still use doctors, but I don't really care about doctors, I'm talking Doc Crocker and facial reconstruction, you know, to perfect my Survivor look, and of course, any self-respecting woman in the Commonwealth needs to be able to see her favorite hairdresser in Diamond City. :P

I will do this. I have been struggling with Survival for some time. I can't play it. No, not for the difficulty, that's fine, I have a bad bug on PS4 that doesn't handle autosaves well. And since Survival relies on only autosaves, you can imagine the frustration when your saves don't take and you lose hours of progress. Mods exacerbate the situation, but I think I can cook up something fun, challenging, and that addresses those very issues, while staying true to the event.

You CAN use services such as doctors, facial surgery and hair dresser. Also I am trapped on mobile so will update the participants list at some point later today. Thanks all!

Awesome Idea Amo - getting us out into the wilderness to survive...boom! I will definintely be playing a character like this...but I can't promise any builds. Real life has me a bit on lock down at the moment. I'll try to at least share some screenshots/ideas as I play though.

    Gluck everyone!

Great! Because while Miss Yum Yum is a survivalist, she still must do it with style.

I got you. Hey - do you think we should include links to former threads on survival guides for those who maybe never tried it? Thinking this one from Ponty... I know there's one other one...currently looking.
