    TRAVELER'S GUIDE

    Goodneighbor

"Of the people, for the people."

You'll hear this quote a lot while walking down the street in the small town of Goodneighbor. I found myself there a few weeks ago, looking for exciting stories to write down in my guide. This town, however is unlike any other you might have seen. Here live outcast, ghouls and criminals. Theft and extortion are common practice on these streets. And the beloved major, John Hancock, is a chem addict and a ghoul. But, despite all those things, Goodneighbor works. It's a safe spot in a super mutant and raider infested city that is Boston. Here is everything you need to know about Goodneighbor.

    Background:

The place where Goodneighbor now lies was called Scollay Square, long ago before the bombs fell. The name is still visible inside the Third Rail, the town bar. The town itself was founded in 2240 by ghouls and criminals evicted from Diamond City by their corrupt mayor, McDonough. It can be reached by traveling southeast from the Mass Fusion tower.

The town was run by some mobsters, the one in charge being a guy named Vic. Vic was ruthless and used slavery as a means to get things done. When John Hancock arrived, he formed a militia and overthrew Vic and his gang over the course of one night. He then became the mayor.

    Locations:

There are several locations worth mentioning, so I'll just give you a rundown of each one.

Kill or Be Killed: Kill or Be Killed is a gunshop run by a robot called KL-E-O or Kleo. There are all kinds of weapons and weapon mods sold here for a fair price. There is a workbench in the shop and even a power armor station.

Daisy's Discounts: This general store is run by Daisy. She sells stuff like weapons, armor, different kinds of aid, chems and ammunition.

The Third Rail: This is the town bar. The bartender is a Mister Handy called Whitechapel Charlie who has a silly British accent. The bar itself is owned by the town mayor, John Hancock. It is one the only places in the Commonwealth with live entertainment, in the form of a singer called Magnolia. There is also word that a famous mercenary spends his time here.

Hotel Rexford: This hotel is the only place where you can rent a room in the town. There's not much to say about it other then that.

    People:

John Hancock: The one and only mayor of Goodneighbor, Hancock. He is beloved and feared by all. I talked to him a bit and, turns out, he lead the ghouls from Diamond City to Goodneighbor, and still feels sorrow for the ones he lost. He became a ghoul after trying out a new radioactive drug, altough he likes being nearly immortal.

Fahrenheit: Fahrenheit is the loyal bodyguard of John Hancock and the leader of the Neighborhood Watch. She is also a ruthless mercenary. Some say that she even may be Hancock's daughter. Whatever the case, remember one thing. Do NOT fuck with Fahrenheit.

Marowski: Marowski is the owner of Hotel Rexford and one of the biggest crime lords in the Commonwealth. He is usually found in his office in the Hotel.

MacCready: This kid is one of the most famous mercenaries in the Commonwealth. Coming here from the Capital Wasteland, he has made a name for him self in Boston.

That's it for the guide for now. I hope you came to know Goodneighbor a little better know. Stay tuned for the rest of the book when I finaly publish it. Cheers.

Yeah cool cool. Def want to see some stuff on the interplay found between Bobbi no Nose and the Big Dig quest. Some good stuff in there... Great start!

This is really cool! Makes me think that a travelers guide series could be constructed over time, plenty of cool places in the Commonwealth that could have articles similar in nature to this. Great job Delta :)

As I was writing this, I actually started thinking about a whole series. Places, factions. I would love to write it, but I don't have any DLC for FO4, so Im missing a lot.

Maybe it could be a collaborative type deal? We could get a small group of Detectives to take different assignments and come back together with guides that could all be tied together in a mega series. Sounds really fun actually, I'd for sure want to take part in that. Hell, we could even set up a Table of Contents page that links all of the guides. Would be super helpful to anyone looking for info during their travels

Definetly. That would be amazing. How about an event? It has potential.

I was thinking that, but Probs and I already have one planned and there aren't many slots for awhile... I'll chat it out with him to see what he thinks: event, mini-event, or just a fun group project between some volunteers. I'll get back with you :)

Ah, Goodneighbor my favorite place in the Commonwealth and the ture defention of "Of the People, For the People", where every ghoul, chem addict, and such forth can come and be wlecomed. This looks gret, and can't wait to read the rest.

Goodneighbor is one of my favorite places to visit because like David said it had the "of the people, for the people" vibe to it.
