Welcome all to the newest addition to the Fallout Hub; your place for any and all Fallout related lore, game mechanics, tips, and tricks! Grab your faded fedora and trench coat folks, because we’re going to need some detectives for our new addition to the group!

This is the Valentine’s Detective Agency request thread, the place for you to hire a detective to investigate and compose an article on anything ranging from lore topics, to weapons, to game mechanics, etc. The goal of this thread is to increase the amount of informative articles available to people who themselves don’t have the inclination to do the digging for such information. By simply putting your request here, the whole group can benefit from your question as your fulfilled request will result in an informative article for all to see

    Here’s how it works:

    1. If you have a request for the investigation of something, simply comment below what you would like investigated. Your request will then be added to the “Open Case Files” section

    2. If you decide you want to tackle one of the open cases, comment below the name of the case you wish to claim. It will then be marked as “Claimed” until it is completed

    3. Use the tag “Valentine Detective Agency Article” when you post it into the Hub

    4. Once completed, your article will be linked in the “Fulfilled Case Files” sections

    Reward System:

We want to be sure to reward all of our detectives for their devotion to helping others at a sacrifice of their own time, so we’d like to offer up some rewards. We’re a little light on caps around here, so instead you’ll be receiving points for your work. Every article request you submit earns you 1 point, while every article you fulfill earns you 4 points (Note that you must fulfill at least one request before your first milestone)

Here are the milestone marks(notify me when you have reached one)

5 points= Your article gets advertised in the community photo reel

15 pointsYou get your very own Mannatee-approved detective badge!

20 points= You will recieve your very own detective spotlight profile in the Hub where all your work and some information about yourself can be viewed and praised

Also, be sure to abide by the following rules:

    1. The first person to comment to take a case file will have explicit control of that file. First come first served

    2. There is no set time limit but please ensure your case is finished with a moderate amount of haste

    3. If you end up realizing you cannot fulfill your case in a timely manner then please comment below so it can be reopened

    4. Your article must be complete and informative; no sloppy work that shows extreme lack of effort

*IMPORTANT* To prevent a clutter of untouched cases building up, if a case is unclaimed for over 14 days (or somewhere around there) it will be removed. You are welcome to resubmit the case after 14 more days if you feel it should be reconsidered for being claimed. Regardless, your request submition point will not be taken away

If you haven’t submitted an article for any content before but would like to participate in this, take a look at Motty's article on the syringer to get a general idea of what an informative article might look like.

OK, I have a case for Detective Valenwood and Co. What's the deal with Bottle cap Mines? How do they work and what role do the caps play in the IED? On a related note, caps themselves are used as currency, right? But currency works because each coin or note in our world represents a part of the value of the gross domestic reserve. Or something. Is there a Wasteland Reserve that has calculated the total amount of potential caps in order to asign a value to each unit? Thanks, super sleuths :) Edit: Can I just say that "please ensure your case is finished with a moderate amount of haste" is my new favourite phrase.

Got it! Added to the files, the very first detective agency-issued points go to you good sir. I split it into two separate things since I believe there's enough info on both to make for two solid, short, and sweet articles. Let me know if you'd prefer them to be joined as one

I'm going to add my own: Wtf is up with the junk jet? I need to know mechanics, how to make it effective in game, and any amount of bonus "lore information"

I'll claim this one. I'm sort of the resident - "tried to make crappy guns work in a build" guy. Yeah, my gearhead was supposed to use the Junk Jet a lot, but it doesn't really work that great...but I'll do a write up on it. Do I post the answer here or as a Hub discussion like my syringer article?

Edit - nevermind I see how to tag and post it.

I'll take the Bottlecap Mine and Currency cases, see what I can turn up. They're closely related and certain to feed into one another. Accounts are inconsistent on the Bottlecap Mine and the device is made differently depending on region, yet all variations are known by the same name and share specific characterisitics. The innerworkings of the wasteland's currency tie directly into it, implying a certain value of both cap and Bottlecap Mine. Should be interesting to unravel.
