Copying this over from T&T into the Fallout HUB - I still want to develop this into a one-stop settlement tips and tricks shop.

My hope is to turn this into a resource of tips and tricks as well as helpful links for those looking to get the most out the Settlement Building opportunities in Fallout 4. Lastly, if anyone wants to show off their settlement(s), feel free to leave a picture or video clip. (Note: This is a Work in Progress...Just trying to map out a plan.)

    Sections:
    1. Resource List
    2. Tips & Tricks
    3. Show us your Settlement

    1. Resource List:
    A. General Settlement Information

    Fallout 4 Wikia - Fallout 4 Settlements
Fallout 4 Reddit - Fallout 4 Settlement Discussion and Community
Fallout 4 USGAMER - Fallout 4 Basic Settlement Construction

    B. Advanced Settlement Building
Jug YouTube Channel - Settlement Building Walkthroughs and Epic Builds (no exploits)
Ops Specialist YouTube Channel - Settlement Live Building Sessions and Epic Builds (exploits)

    C. Other / Misc
Digital Trends - Top Epic Settlement Example List

    2. Tips & Tricks
    A. Getting Started / Prep

    Examples:
    - Make a separate character for settlement building
    - The perks associated with building are Local Leader, Cap Collector, Science, Armorer, Gun Nut & Hacker for max options.
    - Connect settlements via Supply Lines to share resources (Requires Local Leader & settlers).
-Join the Minutemen - not necessary, but makes setting up supply lines and moving settlers around easier.
    - Buy Shipments and use the Workshop duplication glitch to acquire unlimited resources (exploit/optional might be getting fixed in Patch 1.4)
    - Tracking down all issues of Picket Fences increases unique options like lighting, plants, statues and fences.

    B. Money Making

-Example: Setup Water Purifiers in any settlement with water access, add a few traders. Trade water for shipments or other supplies.

    C. Advanced Techniques

-Example: Using rugs, you can drop things like generators on them and push/bury the generator into concrete foundation blocks, making them completely disappear while still producing power. Attaching wires first from the generator to a switch, light or other power needy installation is needed.
-Jug has a nice tutorial on his YouTube Channel for a lot of these techniques.

    3. Show us show Settlement
*Leave a Pic or video in the Comments! I'll post some featured ones here.

Example: My Nebuchadnezzar Airship from my Matrix inspired build - "The One".
Okay - let's see if there's any interest in this! GO!

So this is still going to be a thing or not? I only ask because recently I got into the settlement building, and I know some great mods that could people out.

No you’re right they’re different. This was meant to be a “share your tips and pics” kind of post. It just never got any traction. People sort of make their own posts or put up pics and videos in forum or on the main page. Which is cool. There’s a “show me your settlement” forum post from forever ago. Again not a lot of traction.

Ah, okay that is fine. I was just curious was all as I have recently begun to get into the settlement building of Fallout 4.
