    TESV: Skyrim Random Character System

    Ian S. McClure

Hallo! This is something of a sequel to my ESO Random RP system. The general procedure is the same: for every field, generate a number using whatever random method works for you. Whatever number you get, apply that trait to your budding RP character. Again, this is a very personal system, so feel free to modify however you see fit. Thanks for reading!

Update: Altered Dunmer pantheon to be in line with the Foruth Era Lore of Skyrim.

Update: Elaborated on the Nordic pantheon! Note that just because there's no established worship of a god (like Herma-Mora), there are a wide variety of reasons one might worship individually. Or maybe there are cults, just not ones we've seen...

I'm down for just about all of this. I gotta say that I love the attention to detail that you've gone into so far, just with the vast array of profession choices and then the Werebeast forms and Religions. I mean you've clearly got a pretty expansive list of different elements of RP and Lore that would combine to make a pretty interesting character. My first quick recommendation would be some way to narrow down the professions...well actually no, maybe instead what could be done there is sort them into sections. So you'd have the 'Religious' professions, the 'Magic' professions and so on, that would help break that section up and make it a bit easier to roll for randomly (you know, roll a 1-6 for one of the Categories then roll within that category).

Heh, now I'm probably going to get really far into this because I love the idea Tenebrous and well I like having ideas :P

So the first thing that this kind of reminded me of is XianiX's Expanded Races of Skyrim at least in how I picture it as a possibility. If you haven't checked that article out before, the basic idea is that it...well expands on the Races of Skyrim with some lore-friendly races and other less lore-friendly races, and XianiX has kind of given each of the Races it's own set of rules and perks and I think it even had armour restrictions, skill restrictions and that sort of thing. So basically he really fleshed out each option and made them into quick little Roleplay Builds that you could really build off of rather easily. Now I'm not really suggesting something that's the same (because the fatal flaw there for me was always that it needed a lot of perks to make the Race) but I think it could be an interesting way to expand the options here as an additional step for people that want to play a more complex character.

For example, each profession (former job) could have one or two perks that define it, or maybe an item, quest or follower that fits with it. For example, the Necromancer would start out with Novice Conjuration and Raise Dead, or the Fletcher would have 100 Iron/Steel Arrows. It wouldn't be a complex list like XianiX's list but it'd still be enough to make each option mean something in terms of how the character is played, and provide something with a bit more substantial for people who might find it harder to get into Roleplaying (I personally find something tangible easier to get into than just the words "Former Job: Fletcher"). Then that could be really built upon once you get into the Religious aspects of the System. You know, you could kind of build in faction relationships (Priest of Namira hating Priests of Arkay, and vise-versa), special bonuses that a Deity could give to their Champion/Priest/Whatever if they complete a certain goal, or maybe even a progression system. It'd definitely have to be a bit more Roleplay-based rather than Gameplay based, but it could be a really enjoyable angle to explore.

Hope most of that made sense...Dunno, getting later than I though so I might have rambled a bit. Regardless of whether you do expand it or not, I love the idea and the current system you've got going Tenebrous, and really the major recommendation there is just something that I'd personally enjoy, ya know.

EDIT 1: Shit, ahh, just realized that the ERoS has broken picture links and it makes 0 sense at the moment...ah well, hopefully XianiX and I explained the concept well enough together without the examples.

EDIT 2: Bugger, meant to talk about presentation...I'll drop by again tommorow with notes on that (because if there's anything that I can ramble about, it's Presentation :P)

Well as a massive fan of the ESO version I'm very much looking forward to this! Not really sure what you're missing, like Deebs said the detail here is great, so I'll just pop by to say that this looks great.

Woah. Thanks for the input, guys! Will probably churn out another update now that my laptop has a connection.

Update: Began re-organizing the Former Jobs section! Filed the old ESO Job list away, and added an Agriculture section, dedicated to farming and hunting, and other similar jobs. Note that a good chunk of it has no real-world or ES Lore basis, but rather are ideas to be used if wanted. Also, @Dragonborn1921, I won't be going too into detail about the various Jobs here to not have a mega-post, however I may just make another post for such ideas. Thanks for the tip!

Update: Added the Arist, Warrior and Supernatural Jobs! Note that many Supernatural Jobs have no income; this does not necessarily mean your character was wanting before their adventures began. Simply put, a feral vampire for example does not earn coin, but it's entirely possible that they were quite comfortable feeding off of passerby or something. Also, should you decide (or roll Son/Daughter of Coldharbour) that your vampire is part of a made-up bloodline, you'll be able to choose their special power. Though I may end up making a table of bloodline powers anyhow.

I like the changes so far Tenebrous, have to head out before leaving those notes on Presentation that I mentioned but it's looking good so far. Also definitely get not going into detail on the Jobs but another post would be a rather interesting way to solve that problem.
