I thought I was being dramatic enough.
Could the Magic even take over Metaphors like the one you are being dramatic about? Maybe, its impossible to know the true extent of this Magic.

The shadows used by Shadow Mages are not only the ones you see. The school is based around conflict, each confrontation creates a shadow of it - light and dark, hot and cold, Stormcloak and Imperial... Shadow mages manipulate those shadows and mas as well be able to do... everything! They can stop and start wars, create or destroy life, teleport through distance and time... The time wound on the Throat of the World can potentially be used by a Shadow Mage to heavily skew the outcome of the Dragon War...

It's not about being opposite as much, it's about any conflict really. For example, a rock lying on another rock. The upper pushes the lower due to the gravity while the lower resists. This conflict creates a shadow which can be manipulated to make the lower actually push the upper and throw it away, alter the gravity force and create black holes... There are differences between Stormcloaks and Imperials and these differences are what creates those shadows

Yes, and it will be even more powerful than the standard necromancy, which only fuels the body with soul energy and binds it with magicka. The shadow magic might put actual feelings into the thrall resulting in true reanimation, if the mage desires...

Yes, but this is the most powerful spell and your thralls are still far from being close to normal people. Shadow Mage's thrall can be indistinguishable...

1. Shadow Mage's thralls are more intelligent and can carry out complex orders
2. Shadow Mage's thrall will not give out it's master's true occupation, while regular necromancer's thrall surely will
3. Shadow Mage is still in full control of the thrall, he can call the override command any time
