Lore question involving Altmer

I am currently playing an Altmer warrior (2-H Sword, Heavy Armor, Restoration, Heavy Smithing), and having a good time playing him.

I thought about next trying an Altmer stealth character (Stealth, dagger, alchemy, Illusion.)

Would the Altmer "stealth character" I mentioned in the line above qualify as a Thalmor?

He could certainly qualify as a Thalmor. Given that Altmers are naturally gifted in the arcane they could make great Nightblade types of characters with the skillset you mention. Also among other things the Thalmor we see going around are also agents that gather information for the Aldmeri Dominion take Ancano for example who is there as an "advisor" or to "promote relations" between the Thalmor and the College but what he 's doing is mostly sticking his nose in all matters regarding the college and gathering informaion. So such a character can certainly fit in with the Thalmor.

I would also suggest using mods that enhance Illusion like Ordinator for perks and Apocalypse / More Apocalypse spell package. Another thing you can dig around is quest mods like Legacy of the Dragonborn and the quest mods it supports, playing an Altmer agent/assassin going around gathering whatever artifact there is in Skyrim so as not to fall on the hands of Men can be fun.

I think it is worth discussing that they probably couldn't become a high ranking member at any point. From what we see in Skyrim all the higher ranking Justiciars are pure mages, and I personally like the interpretation of the Thalmor run Altmer that suggests anyone who isn't pure (in either blood or their style of combat) is looked down upon to some degree. So your character could easily be an Agent, but you could possibly expand the character a bit (depending on whether they're proud of being a Thalmor) by working that into the character. Maybe they leave because of a lack of respect, or maybe they strive to do better than anyone else yo try and force the Thalmor into recognizing the.

I like that idea, but generally my Altmers considered being Thalmor - they even might have been successful Justiciars, but they thought Nirn and, in fact, Skyrim (or even Cyrodiil) was large enough for all to share.

...Or maybe they don't leave and remain loyal to their people and the Altmeri values))

Fair, just a bit harder to pull off considering the events of Skyrim. It's something I'd be far more interested in reading about in someone's story than trying to play just because the game is designed to have you fight the Thalmor.

With some creative RP (some console commands and mods would help too), you can play a Thalmor. After all, even the most loyal of mer can sometimes doubt the agenda of their superiors and not trust them. Also, the Thalmor is a big organization and one part of it doesn't necessarily know about all the rest. Who knows why this character even came to Skyrim, maybe they are some super secret undercover agent.

As for stories, I would love to post mine, but my writing skill is so poor that I can't embarass myself so, lol.
