Out of curiosity I googled what the canon ending was for Fallout 4 (for those of you who don't know, "canon" refers to being part of the central plotline of the Fallout universe and therefore marked as what ACTUALLY happened during the time period that our character experienced. We have choice in our worlds, but in actuality there are only some things that truly did happen) and it seems as though there is no official answer and rather just a bunch of reddit posts of people arguing why they think their chosen path is the right one. Whelp, why not add to the chaos? Comment what ending you think is canon and please give fairly clear and detailed evidence to support your answer

Hmm I feel like since the Institute looses in all buy one scenario they will be wiped out in the canon. I also feel that because they keep the BoS from FO3 to FO4 that they will keep the east coast chapter kicking for future games. That pretty much leaves the BOS ending as the only option. However I want to bet that the ending that keeps the most groups alive will be the most logical. I know there is the Minutemen ending you can get that keeps the Brotherhood and the Railroad alive. Perhaps something like that?

Yeah I agree that the institute ending seems unlikely. I feel the Minuteman ending where you don't piss anyone off (y'know, except the institute) is most likely. Players are almost guaranteed to have made some progress with the faction at some point, and no ending involves their defeat. At worst they just never end up becoming an influential power in a players game. If I were to hedge my bets on a slightly more unlikely canon ending, it would be the brotherhood. With the institute down, they could knock off the railroad without much storytelling repercussions. In fact, given how underground the RR are, their defeat doesn't alter the world much at all. The brotherhood going down would create a much bigger fuss I reckon.

So if I had to make a list of endings in order of how likely I think it will be canon:

    1. Minutemen (Only the Institute destroyed)
    2. Brotherhood
    3. Railroad
    4. Institute

I always figured it was the Minutemen. The Institute is evil, the Brotherhood is CLOSE to evil with its selfish and dogmatic acquisition of tech, and the Railroad is a bit too...Specialised.
