What is the Greatest Theme Tune of All Time?

I got to thinking about this, and narrowed my shortlist down to four random contenders:

The Dr Who theme (I'm not even a fan).

    Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased).

    Danger Mouse.

    Or Count Duckula.

What is your favorite theme tune, though?

I'm with you Phil, Doctor Who wins. I don't even like Sci Fi, but its so iconic and just great all around that I can't think of any better. Although the Game of Thrones one does make me 'sing' along whenever I hear it - 'BWAAAAH BWAAH BWA BWA BWA BWAAAAH' etc...

@ Lorc, space western music. Cool!

@Zon, totally with you on the GoT - it's a banging tune, hard not to sing random words or noises to!

@Gwen, oh yes! Honarable mentions to Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain.

I remember being totally disinterested in watching Dr. Who as a kid, but I always stopped to listen to the theme song whenever it came on... that's just fantastic composition when you can get an eight-year-old boy to pause from whatever crucial nonsense that compels him long enough to listen to a tv theme song xD

@The Lorc of Flowers: Love the Firefly theme song, and the Serenity Opening and Closing Credits is a close second for me:

It pains me to say it, but if you'd have asked me when I was 6 years old, I would have said this xD:

@Gwen--Duck Tales... Ah-woo oooo. I used to run a mile and a half from college just so I could catch the last 10 minutes of that show xD

    @Chris, so that's what Fate is! :D

@Kaiser, Mad Max is cool. Not heard that theme before as I haven't seen the movie. Also, looks like anime music is popular here.

For a TV show, it's gotta be the X Files (Honorable mention: Dr Who)

As far as movies go, I'm gonna have to go with Indiana Jones, maybe toss in the first PotC too.

Ha, X Files. I had completely forgotten about that show, it's got a great theme tune. Can't really go wrong with Indy, either.

Can't disagree :D But is it better than For a Few Dollar's More and The Good, The Bad, The Ugly...?
