A Faction for the Wastes

Hey there everypony/one! So, I myself have always loved strategy games, especially the one's were you can make your own factions! Also I adore Fallout and world building! So my Pinkie mind has thought up an idea, if you could make yourself a faction in the wonderful wasteland of Fallout, what would it be? I want to know...

    -What would be their goal?

    -Were would they live?

-What weapons and armor would they employ?

    -Color Scheme/Ascetic choices?

-Who would they be enemies with?

-Who would they be allies with?

-Anything else you want to say!

Myself, I would make a group called the Acolytes of Happiness. They would be devoted to taking people's minds off the horrors of the wastes, and giving them, if only for a moment, happiness. They would live in the places they were needed most, the most brutal and sad places in the wasteland, so probably the Capital Wasteland or wherever else they are needed. The Acolytes would not be focused on killing, but they would have weapons for dealing with those who take happiness from others. They would probably arm themselves with simple and efficient weapons that kill with minimal pain, such as laser rifles and explosives. As for armor the Acolytes would be more concerned with making people happy with their appearance, but would probably put metal plates painted to match their clothing  and perhaps a vest underneath. As for clothing and color, the Acolytes would wear rather silly garments, such as pink, yellow or even rainbow colored outfits, most likely with happy images such as the sun, flowers or similar things. Their flag would be a sun shining on a slowly growing tree with a pink background.  They would try to avoid making enemies, but raiders and slavers, the Enclave, Ceaser's Legion, The Western Brotherhood of Steel would all be disliked,as whether it be though killing and enslaving or through causing fear, they would harm peoples happiness. The Acolytes would naturally take a liking to the Followers of the Apocalypse, The Eastern Brotherhood of Steel and the New California Republic for their efforts to help people.

Thanks everypony/one, I hope you humor my little question!

This is a good discussion!  I'll have to take some time to think about it, especially since the Followers of the Apocalypse are already taken.

You should check out Live Roleplaying Fallout, Pinkie! We're about to post a huge update, which includes details for the six local factions players can encounter (and even join). These include:

    - The Black Hand Society, old-world gangsters who never gave up their casino headquarters, even after two hundreds years and an apocalypse.

    - Deadwood Crossing, the largest trading hub around, overseen by a sheriff who solves every dispute with a shotgun blast to the face.

    - The Demo Men, explosives enthusiasts with a need for speed, they even managed to get some pre-war cars working again.

    - The Protectorate, attractive, smiling traders who own most of the city and are rumoured to be both slavers and cannibals

    - The Scrapers, elusive trap experts obsessed with pre-war technology, rumoured to have junk even the Brotherhood of Steel hasn't found yet.

    - The Wolverines, kind-hearted mercenaries who took over a stadium outside of town and run the last, best place for refugees and the needy in the wastes.

If you want to know more, well, I guess you'll have to check the group out.

Sounds cool! I played a Fallout themed D&D 3.5 campaign once and it was awsome!!!! When I have some free time I will definitely check it out! Sounds like a real party!

this is a good starting discussion Pinkie.

mine of course would be Shy Guy themed army, I wrote a Fan-fiction about a nuclear fallout happened in the Mario verse.

This Shy Guy is both the General of the Shy Guy army that flies under the flag of Princess Peach after she opened her home to us. I was trained under Mario in Hand to hand combat. I also ran the armory that the army uses.

Huh, sounds interesting! I have always liked Fallout crossovers myself, the universe is just so interesting and well thought out it can mesh with any universe it seems!

omg, I love the Original Red Dawn film. I might join the Live RP group, if I could have an armory and lead a war similar to the Shy Guy Army under Princess Peach's rule.

We're currently not doing any crossover stuff with Fallout Live Roleplaying, but I appreciate your enthusiasm.

We're just about to release a new, simple system for Fallout LRP, I definitely recommend you take a look when it's released.

The Refuge: A faction of ghouls that actually gets involved in something. What, I don't know. They probably try to recruit those ghouls who've been around since before the war, maybe to help keep them from going feral. As such, they're probably interested in history. That would make them allies to the Followers, but they'd also work to insinuate ghouls into regular human communities, build ties. They would have to find something that would be a uniquely "ghoul" service that they could offer the wastes, which would give them a bargaining chip and make their aid valuable. That would probably be scavenging irradiated areas or something. I just want to see ghouls in a substantial community. Underworld was just not enough.

I envision them somewhat like the Quarians of Mass Effect, though maybe more permanently settled. In order to join the community, a prospective ghoul/traveler would need to do something on their to demonstrate they would be a boon to the community. I haven't the slightest idea if they'd have an emblem or color scheme, or signature weapon, though.

Huh, sound cool! I always thought that the "Ghoul Factions" in fallout are kinda underwhelming, they don't do anything! And I think that would help the wasteland, ghouls need to be loved and tolerated too!

Goal: Patrol caravanning routes and eliminate threats; not for hire
Living Space: None, camping along roads; some emergency hideouts scattered over the wastes

Color scheme: Black and dark grey, banner/symbol is a navy colored member on a white background
Enemies: Raiders, Super Mutants, Slavers, anyone who attacks travelers and caravans
Allies: NCR Rangers, Reilly's Rangers, Caravaneers, other honorable mercenaries
Recruiting: 5 members maximum. If one brother or sister falls in battle, a well trained person is selected from the NCR, Reilly's Rangers, or a merc group and offered entry.

The Night Hunters: A group of non-feral Ghouls who go out and hunt both Feral Ghouls, and other mutants, keeping the Wasteland safe from the shadows.

The Horseguard: A Wasteland group of mercenaries, with a horse motif, that go out and protect the lands, while spreading camraderie and mirth.

I am honestly surprised there is not something akin to the Night Hunters in the actual games, I would get pretty irritated if I had to keep dealing with feral ghouls and other abominations! And I like the sound of the Horseguard...but I have to say, what would be a good number of members? May I suggest 6? 6 main mercenaries? A main 6 perhaps? :P

A Mane 6, oh yeas. They'd spread caps, cheer, and gunfire across the Wastes!

I imagine a sort of Guide\Guard service would be pretty useful in the Fallout universe. Like a kind of guild that leads travelers and merchants through the wastes to settlements while acting as a caravan guard against bandits and feral ghouls.

An organized guard guild would help the Wastes! I notice that the caravans guards are always getting killed, so if a faction took over the business, it would be great for caravaners!
