Basically, if the zombie, or a nuclear apocalypse happened, and you lived, what would you do, and what weapons,or,weapons, would you use? For me, I'd get as many of my friends and family into my home, and fortify it. AKA boarding up windows, leaving cracks to peek through, put furniture against the door, and lock said doors too. My weapon would either be a katana I own, my grandpa's old hatchet, a pellet gun I own, and a hunting knife. How bout you guys?

A Zombie apocalypse, like "dead" zombies, are not possible, and even if they were they'd die pretty damn quickly without me having to do anything.

    And a nuclear apocalypse? Well..

In an atomic holocaust, we're all pretty much screwed.

For a zombie apocalypse, we need to set some rules as to what we are dealing with. Are these classic George Romero zombies, or are these zombies track stars, and each and every one of them can take gold at the Olympics?

They can run fast as hell, are semi-resistant to cold, and can climb

Let me guess, because they freeze during the winter?

You may want to add: They have a hive mind, and a boosted immune system.

Yup, the cold. And the heat. And the infections. And the fact that they have to go up against their top predator (humans) for food every single time doesn't help either. Neither do the wild animals.

    Are they contagious ?

So we're talking more like the things from Stephen King's Cell novel?

Why would zombies need an immune system? Unless they're like the Infected from The Last of Us, and they're still alive-ish

Yes, they are, and if you die, even if you aren't bitten, you still turn, though the bite speeds up the process.

Because they are meat. Bugs like meat.

What are we using as a guide? 28 days later?

Yeah, that or the Waling Dead. Or any zombie game like Dead Island or the upcoming Dying Light. Oh, and they become more aggressive at night, and gain better vision.

    Why not make our own?

Also, I'd prefer if the zombies were still alive (somewhat), intelligent hunters but not flawless.

You're all across the board. Walking dead, 28 days later, and dead island are all very different.

The Walking Dead would be way too easy to survive. I'd just literally have to play games here for 5 hours, step outside and clean my lawn with my corpse rake.

Alright, basically, the disease causes there body to decay, but they could be still technically alive. They remain some of their human intelligence and memories.

Lol, then the world is theirs.

  • May 22, 2014 11:38 AM EDT

I think I'd prefer the holocaust of nuclear winter to these rules you're setting up.

Decay would be too great of a weakness, they'd need an active immune system to live in this world, their bodies could change, mutations of some sort (insane strength and speed, less brains?).

Either way, I'm going to Switzerland.

Yeah, theyd get insane stength, lessened intelligence, and higher speed

The danger of the walking dead is their sheer numbers, the fact that if anyone dies in any way they turn if the head or brain aren't damaged, and that the humans are effing pricks

    Zombie:

Weapons: I have quite a large collection of quality melee weapons, such as, knives, axes, spears, swords, polearms. Ranged = blowguns (not effective against zombies, but works for small game), bows, crossbows. Firearms = rifles, shotguns. (I had a nice Ithaca short barreled automatic shotgun, but some dumb ass thief stole it and if I ever run across that guy...). I would save the firearms for real emergencies, conserving ammo. I would also rely on 'fire' (fire good) and explosives. Defensively I would use barricades (eg Cheval de frise - spiked barrier - like we see in Skyrim,) traps, and 'kill' zones.

Fish and Game is plentiful in my area, plus just the other day I counted around a dozen edible wild plants growing in an open area on my land. I would work with my neighbors to protect our food source. Water is available via wells, plus I know methods of purifying contaminated water. I have several survival type handbooks, which I would review and allow others to study.

    Nuclear:

Assuming it was not 'total'...Similar plan as 'Zombie', but I would need to construct a radiation fallout shelter quickly - probably something underground, dug in hard clay (lots of it near here) and lined with cinder blocks (which I already have).
