What is your favorite magic oriented skill tree when it comes to skyrim? Mine is conjuration hands down! Nothing is quite as satisfying as summoning two dremora lords and then turning into a werewolf!

    Restoration. nuff said.

I would say restoration is a (very) close second for me. If they didn't have conjuration, that would easily be my next choice!

Illusion;you can force your enemies to kill each other;I never got the hang of it though.

Illusion ... Making enemies kill each other since 11/11/11

Too true! Nothing quite as entertaining as sending enemies into a frenzy to kill each other, while you just sit back and enjoy the show!

I feel your pain on this. I couldn't quite get the hang of it at first either. But the more time I spent practicing my timing and using illusion, it slowly came to me. Just keep practicing! You'll get it down pat.

    Alteration.

Magic Resistance, Detect Life/Dead, Paralysis, Telekinesis, Magelight, Candlelight, Dragonhide - it's the most versatile school

Alteration is pretty awesome, but I usually only go into it for the passive resistances. I never had a reason to delve into the other aspects of the school. The character I'm in the process of creating for the CB group though is using alteration for paralysis and telekinesis as well, and I've actually have found it rewarding. Just not high on my list of favorites personally

Conjuration is the best perk tree. Nothing is more satisfying than watching your enemies fallen comrade coming back to life to slay them.

I don't like magic in Skyrim, F*ck me right?

No seriously, magic isn't as cool as it should be but Alteration gets the crown for being the most versatile.

Alteration! The tool belt magic of Skyrim. Love that school.

Conjuration. It's just something about summoning daedra from the planes of Oblivion.

Restoration. I prefer not having to go to the menu to use a potion mid combat, it feels cheap.

Another good use for Illusion is Hired Thugs on higher difficulties.Normally,no one attacks them besides followers, but if you cast Fury/Frenzy on them, every guard in the city will attack them.

My favorites are Destruction and Alteration. I like combining the elemental cloak spells with the flesh spells, it's great for my warrior characters, and both of those effects carry over to the beast forms.

Alteration also provides useful resistance perks, as well as utility spells like paralysis and candlelight. Destruction has a good ranged magic attack, and close range magic for spellswords.

There's something to be said about each of the magic skills, but these two are just my favorites.

Alteration's absorb magic is my favourite. Don't even have to do anything, it does it itself.

For me it's probably a tie between Conjuration and Alteration.

Conjuration. I love bound weapons and summons a little too much. It's closely followed by Illusion and Restoration, though.

Conjuration slightly ahead of alteration for me.  (I like the bound weapons).

@ Ben.  You don't need magic to melee naked, just skill.
