The Elder Scrolls series has had many 'boss battles' throughout its history. Which one was your favorite and why? Here's a few examples (spoilers, obviously)

    Morrowind

    • Dagoth Ur
    • Almalexia
    • Vivec
    • The Imperfect
    • Gaenor
    • Aspect of Hircine
    • Karstaag

    Oblivion

    • Mankar Camoran
    • Mannimarco
    • Umaril
    • The Gatekeeper
    • Jyggalag

    Skyrim

    • Alduin
    • Dragon Priest(s)
    • Sigdis Gauldurson
    • Mercer Frey
    • Lord Harkon
    • The Forgemaster
    • Miraak
    • The Ebony Warrior
    • Karstaag

I'd say either Mannimarco, Mercer Frey, Miraak, or Karstaag

I'd say Alduin or Umaril. Alduin was just epic, finally defeating him in Sovngarde, and Umaril because you had to defeat him twice (I think that's kind of unique)

    I don't remember Umaril...

IIrc Umaril was part of the Nights of the Nine DLC

For me it would be Mercer.

Oh, that's why I don't remember. Never played night of the nine, it looked boring

    Umbra  (Morrowind Edition)

Defeated him during an epic thunderstorm and that guy packs a punch that you're not expecting.

Try not to derail this into a 'DLC x sucked' discussion while I'm asleep, k?

Hey, if people don't find the need to argue, then it won't be derailed, and it would be their fault not mine.

Umbra was in Morrowind? I fought him in oblivion and was disappointed, you could kill him at level 1...

My choice is Dagoth Ur. I remember I has a really tough time with that fight.

(This would make an interesting poll).

You defeated her at level 1, really?  That's not the umbra fight that I remember.  At level one, she should be able to one hit kill you and she regenerates.  I'm not sure how you could even get to her at level one.

It was not easy, I blew through a lot of potions and magicka for healing... But I did it and had OP gear for about half of the game...

I was just thinking the same thing RR. I might make this into a poll at some future point

Maybe this thread can be a kind of nomination thread - since the possibilities suggested by Ponty are too numerous for a poll

What? Oh! I voiced that wrong. I meant to type I collected them all in under 6 levels... I might have wrote that wrong before... Whoops

To Skyrim I'd add Ancano from the Mage's Guild questline and Ulfric Stormcloak / General Tullius from the Civil War questline.

For a pure warrior, the Gaulderson fight was actually quite tough. Having to change tactics based on the brother you were fighting was quite intense, and all three were a significant challenge. Going into that fight without potions or healing magic was essentially suicide, but when I managed to pull it off it felt really rewarding. Challenging in a way that Miraak's healing crap and Harkon's minions never felt.

I started at I believe level 12 and finished at level 18 on my redguard thief.

You sort of had to defeat Alduin twice, you have to beat him on the Throat of the World, but you can't kill him.

Umaril was a brilliant fight, also the whole playthrough was excellent for builds. I was sort of dissapointed with most of the Skyrim boss fights, Mercer Frey was probably the highlight
