    Thanks David, I appreciate that.

Well, as I write, I am sitting by the fireside in Breezehome. I've just got back from a pilgrimage to all the shrines of Lady Mara in the province, making an offering of a flawless gem at each one and seeking Her blessing. I travelled alone, leaving Lydia in Honeyside (having started the pilgrimage at the Temple in Riften, naturally) and using no conjuration on the trip. Before setting out I had decided that upon arriving home at Whiterun, I would execute "Saadia" - but ONLY if I survived the journey, alone. This would be a sign from Mara that my plan was acceptable; if I died on the pilgrimage, then clearly my intentions were displeasing to the Divine and would have to be abandoned. It was bloody close run thing too - after the final shrine at the Nightcaller Temple I went west along the road heading past Labyrinthian where I would pass over the mountains, and met TWO patrols escorting Stormcloak prisoners. The first were Imperials, and not too difficult; but the second patrol, just before I turned off the road to head into Labyrinthian, were Thalmor. Thank all the Divines for Fury, which took two of them out of the game while I blasted number three, and then Ice Form put one down while I dealt with the other. VERY close thing...but undoubtedly a sign from on high. For this last threat to be Thalmor, in this context, and for me to survive this battle and the journey singlehanded (even the prisoner lived, for a change!) meant beyond doubt that Mara accepts the sanction I must employ upon "Saadia". I don't like it and I'm sure She doesn't, but there it is - things sometimes must be done, however distasteful they are.

Having had a sit down to think this through, taking into account the signs, and reading The Great War as advised, I am now resolved. After adding this reply, I am going upstairs to sleep for a few hours until nightfall - it seems proper to do this dark deed at night. I will take the Axe of Whiterun from the rack by the door, and I will walk up to the Bannered Mare. Divines forgive me, and let me strike quick and true.

(And Divines help me get my ass over the wall and out of town in one piece.)

Edited to add: DID NOT GO WELL. Delphine was there, and attacked me the moment I stepped into the inn! What the Hell? This may require a rethink.
