The Snowscale, Chapter 2

  • It wasn't much to look at, but there were few Imperial patrols in Falkreath, good news to someone who just escaped an Imperial execution. The first store Jeetum-Ja went to was the blacksmith. There he got himself a nice suit of leather armour and an iron shortsword. The blacksmith seemed nice enough to not alert the guards the second he saw a stranger, and even discounted the sword when Jeetum said he was going to join the rebelion. The next store owner, however, was not so kind. "So, whats a scale-back like you doing in Falkreath? You coming to sacrifice children to some tree, or something?" "I'm just here for some supplies, then I'll be on my way." Just then, another man walked into the store. "What are you doing here, lizard? Are you trying to rob us?" "No!" replied Jeetum "I'm just here to get some food, and then I'll be on my way." "Where are you going then, lizard?" asked the first shopkeeper. "I'm going to Windhelm to join the rebelion. Why?" "Oh, so you're a spy then?" asked the second shopkeeper. "I'm no friend of the Empire, and besides, Ulfric and I escaped the Imperials together at Helgen." replied Jeetum-Ja. Just then, the second shopkeeper grabbed Jeetum and shouted for the guards. "Guards! Guards, I caught a theif! Guards!"

"Alright, what did you steal, Argonian?" asked the guard. "Nothing. I'm innocent!" Cried Jeetum-Ja "Please, you've gotta let me out!" "That's what they all say. Prehaps a nice strech in the dungeons will straiten you out." The guard led Jeetum to another Argonian prisoner, and threw him in the same cell. "There, now you can keep eachother company while I go get drunk." said the guard before walking off. "So, what are you doing here, egg-brother?" asked the other Argonian, his scales as pale as snow. "Apparently I stole something. What, I don't know." "What's your name?" asked the other Argonian. "Mine's Wum-Na, the Snowscale." "Mine's Jeetum-Ja." replied Jeetum. "Hey."Said Wum "I think I know a way that we can both get out of here." "How?" asked Jeetum. "I have one lockpick left. I didn't want it to break, and my hands aren't what they used to be." "Alright." replied Jeetum "Give me the pick and I'll do the rest." He had barely finished picking the lock when the guard came back.

"I'll hold him off!" cried Wum "Just get my ring from the evidence chest. Wear it at midnight, and you'll know what to do. Go!" Jeetum just managed to pick the lock to the evidence chest before more guards came. As he ran through the prison, he could hear the screams of his fellow marsh-friend echo through the halls. By the time that Jeetum got outside he was ready to collapse, but he knew the guards wouldn't be far behind. Eventually he got to an abandoned fort that he hid in on the side of the road. He was just about to fall asleep when he remembered what Wud had said to him. He had to put the ring on at midnight, and he would know what to do. He went outside and placed the ring of his finger. Suddenly a portal opened infront of him and an old man fell out. "Son?" the man asked when he saw Jeetum "Son! It is you!" "No, I'm sorry sir but I'm an Argonian, not a human." replied Jeetum. "I am son. You are half-Hist, a Snowscale."
