‘The Pale Elf’ is a strange lullaby of the Reachmen. A modern composition, this lullaby concerns the aforementioned ‘Pale Elf’ which according to respected folklorists has no basis in Reachmen mythology. Even in my interviews with the Reachmen, I have received nought but conflicting answers! I’ve been told that this Pale Elf is the vengeful spirit of the long-lost Falmer to an unknown Daedra to even just a metaphor for Skyrim’s harsh winters. Like the theories to the identity of this Pale Elf, the lyrics to this lullaby are just as numerous and the following is the most commonly sung rendition.
Hush my young babe,
Smother your cries.
Lie still, sleep now, shut your eyes.
Say your prayers to the Gods of Old,
Pray that she won’t eat you whole.
She who prowls the olden woods,
She who preys the nascent streets,
She whose skin is pale as snow,
She whose eyes are utter cold,
She who hungers, she who thirsts,
She who will eat you up whole.
