An interesting week for Faolan

  • All my life I have been a privileged child the perks for being the son of the emperors officials I guess. But I got greedy; I had an obsession for knowledge. It consumed me and caused me to do something that was going to change my life forever.

My name is Faolan and I am a wanted man by the empire. No I did not kill anyone. I did not attack the emperor or any of those other offenses. But I did try to steal the last Elder scroll that was left in the Imperial library. I almost had it to but just as it was in my reach I let my guard down and set off a trap scaring the entire right side of my face and alerting the guards to my presences. They saw my face knew who I was. There was nothing I could do; I couldn’t stay in Cyrodill so I fled to Skyrim. All I hoped was that the civil war would help hide me from the Imperial legion as they would be too busy fighting the Stormcloaks.

I made it just outside the border of Skyrim when I saw what seemed to of been Stormcloaks. They wouldn’t know who I was or even cared so I did not worry too much. But I never should have let my guard down. There was a trapped placed by the Imperials to capture these Stormcloaks, and news of what I have done must have arrived here as well; for the Imperials knocked me out and I awoke in the back of a wagon heading to the execution block. All that running, leaving everything behind, all the knowledge lost, for nothing. I did not try to fight my way out because I knew that I would fail especially seeing that horse thief get shot down by the archers after trying to run. I approached the headman’s block and awaited my death. What happened next I don’t know if it was fate from the god Julianos or if it was just coincidence but a dragon flew from the sky and landed on the tower next me creating a rawr so powerful that it knocked me and everyone around in a daze. When I came to I saw there was mass chaos and knew this was my chance to escape.

I followed the Stormcloaks out of Helgen for I knew if I stayed with the Imperials I would just be postponing my own death. I acquired a bow while escaping through the keep which made me more comfortable as I knew how to use it and could protect myself. Once the Stormcloak and I left the keep he suggested that we split up. I had no objections towards that, although there were strengths in numbers I knew I could remain less conspicuous if I was on my own; easier to stay hidden.

I set up camp away in the woods and tried to collect myself thinking of my next move. All I had was a bow and a few dozen arrows. I need to find a town and resupply. But I need to keep my head down just in case any Imperials are around. Once I have resupplied I am going to search this land and restore everything I lost making Skyrim my new home. I remember reading some information about Skyrim, there is a vast amount of Dwemer ruins and Ancient Nordic tombs all throughout Skyrim. Maybe I will be the one to uncover the mystery to the Dwemer disappearing.

It has been two days since the dragon attack. I still can’t believe that there are still dragons; I thought the blades whipped them all out! This is amazing to think of all the things I could learn from one. Of course the probability of that happening is pretty much zero, a shame I bet one could tell the most marvelous tales.

I headed back to Helgen to scavenge for supplies trying to avoid towns as much as I could. I didnt really find much, but I did come across a hooded robe in one of the wardrobes that made it through the attack. Hopefully this will help keep my identity hidden, for I came to a nearby town called Falkreath. It was a dreary little town but it seems to be under Imperial control, just my luck. Upon my arrival I noticed what seemed to have been a Nordic tomb imbedded into the mountainside. I was intrigued to investigate it. I know of these creatures called Drauger which are supposed to be the undead that are magically kept alive for an eternity to take care of the tombs.

During my first day here I scoured the surrounding land of Falkreath for alchemical ingredients so I could prepare myself for investigating the tomb. I couldn’t find much but I was able to make a few healing potions and some damage health poisons. I am hoping I wont have to use them for killing should only be my last option, I plan on using my wit and tactical skills to make it through these tombs. I lacked coin and against my better judgement I decided to help the locals so I could get a little bit of money to rent a room for the night and buy me a new bow and arrows.

Today was the day I headed towards the tomb, unsure of what I was to find besides the Drauger, I knew I couldn't plan for what was to happen in there, I had to stay on full alert. When I entered the tomb there didn’t seem to be any Drauger besides the two that seemed to guard the entrance. I was disappointed that I couldn’t study them, but I was amazed of the stonework that was involved in creating these tombs. While I was marveling at the stonework I let my guard down, this is one of my many flaws I must fix, for I didn't notice the vampire creeping up on me until I felt it begin draining me of life. Coming back to reality I quickly drew my bow and let loose an arrow, I hit her arm which stopped the spell. As she was pulling the arrow from her arm I let loose another hitting her right through her skull. I drew some vampire dust from her to use for later, and continued through the tomb.

These Nords where great at building these tombs there was so many puzzles, I didn't understand why they needed puzzles for a burial place but I hoped to figure it out soon. Towards the end of my investigation I came upon another vampire, this one didn't sneak up on me but he was much more powerful then the other. He came running towards me I couldn't aim my shot well enough to hit him so all I could do was try and lead him into the fire trap in the previous room. Running through I noticed the vampire was still right behind me weaving through the fire just as I had. I had nothing to help me in this situation, no potions to turn invisible so I could hide, my poisons are useless against vampires and I can't even aim my bow quick enough to hit him. I did the only thing I could do, I retreated out of the tomb I knew vampires are weaker in sunlight and some types even die in it. Luckily for me this vampire didn't leave the tomb.

So here I am again in Falkreath planning for my next attempt at this tomb. I won’t give up, but now that I know what I am up against I know how to prepare. I know poisons won’t work on this vampire and I can’t kill him but maybe I can sneak past him. Using the vampire dust and Nirnroot I got from the first vampire I killed I was able to make an invisibility potion. Maybe I can work my way around this vampire and use stealth instead of brute force.

No you are fine. I appreciated your honest opinion. That's the kind of stuff I expected since I never really done anything like this before, so the more constructive criticism you give that would make my writing better, Ill be better off

I hope I didn't come across as callous or anything. I tend to be a pickier person than most when it comes to the sorts of stuff I like to read. If you enjoy doing this, keep at it and you'll only improve. Above all else, that would be worth seeing.

Thanks Okan for being honest, I did spend a lot more time trying to creating the background for the character then I did with the story. I think that was because I didn't want to bore the reader with stuff they probably experienced in there own game plays...  more

Beware - I will be as constructive as I can, but I will not hold back my honest opinion.
Also note that when I read a blog here on the website, I read it as a work of fiction.
    I will be brief:
