  • Liara the Cursed - Chapter 2 Part 2 - The road to nowhere

After spending the night in the Drunken Huntsmen, Jorgen felt revitalized and headed over to Warmaidens to spend some time with Adrianne and her husband, they were old friends of his. I however spent the night in the temple of Kynareth, my ‘Nightmares’ don’t tend to go down with the locals very well. The priestess however knew of my troubles and had tried to help me before; she said I wouldn’t stand out from all the wounded soldiers.

Danica kindly let me use their facilities to bathe, and after I felt revitalized. I decided to spend a little time by myself under the Gildergleam before I met up with Jorgen. Danica mentioned that someone called The Dragonborn? Had bought it back to life, I made my way down to Warmaidens stopping at the fruit store briefly for some apples then met Jorgen out back sparring with a rather large Nord.

Jorgen and I left white run and saddled up ready for our journey, Jorgen seemed to be in rather a chatty mood so I thought I’d ask him about something that had been on my mind.

“So….Those bandits yesterday called you a Traitor, did something happen before we left them?”

Jorgen stared at the road ahead for a few minutes, and I stayed sheepishly quiet.

“Ok, I guess we were bound to have this conversation at some point and I owe you the truth” he paused for a moment and sighed “The night when you saved my life I was going to raid Helgen, and when I came back with you….they weren’t exactly pleased. But I convinced them that you could make us a lot of gold being an assassin if we helped train you up. But they couldn’t wait for the fruits of their investment, and said that you had to be put to work, naturally I refused as you weren’t ready and then they forced me to choose”

    “Between me and them?”

“Exactly lass and I owed you big time for saving me that night, and I grown quite protective of you. You were the daughter I never had and my partner in crime”

I tried to hide my eyes welling up with a quick punch to the arm “Look at you getting all sentimental in your old age, so do you miss the bandits life?”

“Old! I’m barely Thirty-Six! And no not really lass, I never liked the idea of never staying in the same place for long, and not being allowed in the cities made it harder to get supplies”

We passed straight through Riverwood, I eyed up the Inn as we passed. I was desperate to go speak to my sister again, but that probably not the best idea right now.  It was getting towards noon so we decided to stop for something to eat and drink. We pulled up by a conveniently placed shrine of Talos, sitting on a bench placed before it looking out onto Lake Ilinalta through the trees.

It really was a lovely day the sun was high in the sky, there wasn’t a cloud to be seen, the smell of pine swept through the breeze and we had made great time. We should make Falkreath before long today.

My heart lurched up into my throat as I spotted three Thalmor Justicars walking along the path, it wasn’t clear if they had seen us yet but moving would surely give our position away. This was all made so much worse by us sitting in front of a shrine to Talos. The Thalmor had noticed us and were closing in on us, two were clad in elven armor with shields and their leader was dressed in Thalmor robes. This was likely to end in a bloodbath so I decided to push my luck with them a little, and have some fun.

“Are you aware that the worship of the false Divine Talos has been outlawed in the Empire?” Questioned the lead elf.

“Would it make the slightest bit of difference if I wasn’t” I remarked standing up to meet the elf

“Well…..no but” I cut the elf short, winding him up some more

“Then why did you ask, such redundant question?” I said with a confident grin on my face.

“It doesn’t change the fact that Talos is outlawed in Skyrim! Now relinquish your weapons and armor” Said the elf, trying to assert his superiority.

“Oh I think not, what makes you think you can just walk around telling people what they can and can’t worship? If I choose to worship someone or something it is my choice to do so, no matter how futile you think this may be”

“It is such ignorance, which needs to be stamped out young lady”

“Ignorance? It is you who are ignorant. In fact to show you how silly this is, you are here by accused of being a tall, pointy eared poncy elf. Relinquish your weapons and armor”

“I have had enough of this, and will tolerate it no longer. Guards ready your weapons and take them into custody” Said the lead elf as he readied a handful of fire.

I turned my gaze to Jorgen flicking him a cheeky grin, as I crouched down to sneak and vanished into thin air. The Thalmor frantically searched for me as I snuck around waiting for the chance to strike, much to Jorgen’s amusement. Then my time to strike came, I readied my retractable wristblade and plunged it into the lead Thalmor’s back through to his heart as I grabbed his throat as I whispered into his ear.

“you feel that?” I said pushing the blade in so the palm of my hand was flat on his back “That’s what oppression feels like” and I pushed him onto the floor, and got sprayed in the face with blood as Jorgen crushed the nearest elves head like a walnut. The last Thalmor began to run away in fear as we turned our attention to him. Damn these elves are fast, I thought as I un-slung my bow and notched up an arrow. The arrow hit the elf square in the back knocking him into the river.

We decided it’d be best if we made best speed to falkreath, to put some distance between us and those corpses, and by mid afternoon we arrived. I decided to take the time to get the lay of the land, and look for hiding spots, while Jorgen wanted some more mead.
