I would like to know your guys' opinion on what is the better game Morrowind or Oblivion and do you think Skyrim could top them? In my opinion Morrowind was more 'hardcore' RPG type but Oblivion was more polished and user friendly.

It was the first elder scrolls game I played, and did a very good job of getting me hooked on the series. I actually had more than 900 hours in that game and I still occasionally find out things I didn't know about or do.
It was a massive game and probably the best of the elder scrolls series in my opinion, though it was thoroughly unpolished. In particular, I really enjoyed how the guilds worked, an how you actually had to progress in your skills to be promoted, unlike oblivion were a anyone could rise to the top of any guild they wanted despite there current skill set. That alone really turned me off to Oblivion.
Aside from that I feel like Morrowind was so much more challenging then oblivion,it really made me feel like I had earned everything I looted or obtained through some quest or another. While Oblivion just started to feel pointless after a certain point. :-/ less
Morrowind is the better game of the two if you ask me.

I loved the world you had to explore, it was very varied with some easy and some extremly difficult areas, you had the totally different houses with their different looking city's, you had the weird but huge dwemer ruins, you had just one set of deadra armour without the expansions and in my case money was pretty hard to get too.
You had way more armour and weapons in Morrowind, you even had throwing stars and knifes and crossbows, you had the pretty mean looking Bonemold armour and some real expensive soul gems with real ultimate power in them and blablabla, I could go on with this for a while. less
For my response, I'll repost this from the 'Money and what to do with it' thread. I don't mean to be lazy or spammy, but I don't think I could state my opinion of the difference between Morrowind and Oblivion any more concisely than I did there.

In Oblivion, becoming massively, filthy rich was just a matter of leveling up since bandits eventually had glass and daedric armor to sell at shops and merchantss had lots of gold compared to the merchants of Elder Scrolls III Morrowind.
In Morriwind, my character was self-sustaining-but-still-rather-poor until he discovered one of the games uber-dungeon-within-a dungeon 's in a remote corner of the game world and of course looted enough gold pieces and valuables to never worry about Septims again until the next amazing dungeon he discovered and so on.
That's the real difference I think. Being rich in Morrowind never got old because every time I felt like I had too much money, I was reminded of the amazing Indiana Jones - like adventure through which ... less

I had only an Xbox at the time, not 360, so I had no idea of Oblivions existence. Anyway, I felt it Morrowind was great and had my sitting in my room for hours on end, having fun and cursing my Xbox for freezing after and hour of not saving or so, but I grew keen to the elements of Morrowind. Once I got my 360 I played Oblivion, taking a very long time to get into, as I thought it was bland and easy. I eventually grew to love it. All in all I enjoy Morrowind more. It had better story, more diversity, more dedicated to RPG elements, while Oblivion was more fun gameplay wise, and obviously prettier looking, it was too easy and predictable. In Oblivion's defense though, I do believe it got rushed. But I think Skyrim will top both, as I think, well hope, it will be a good median of both games. less
i agree, i like morrowind for the ammont of crap you had to find just to get a full set of armor haha, and you could enchant everything, and the fact it did not tell you where to go 24/7, but oblivion's graphics and user friendly interface tops morrowind.... morei agree, i like morrowind for the ammont of crap you had to find just to get a full set of armor haha, and you could enchant everything, and the fact it did not tell you where to go 24/7, but oblivion's graphics and user friendly interface tops morrowind.
however, skyrim is taking the best from both (apart for a few things), then upgrading them and adding even more, and not to mention the stunning detail in the game, i would have to say that skyrim is going to blow them both out of the water, but it is hard to say until i get my hands on skyrim! less
Honestly, I liked Morrowind better than Oblivion. I liked the designs of the armors, especially the Redoran armor, sorry if i spelled it wrong. But I undoubtably beleive that Skyrim will blow both of them out of the water.
