DragonBorn Guide: Armors and Spells. Part 1 of the Dragonborn Guide series.

  • Dragon born guide: Armors and Spells

Dragon Born is Skyrims 3rd DLC and In personal opinion, the best elder scrolls DLC I’ve played(To hell with horse armor). Of course this guide will contain massive spoilers and stuff so I’ve decided to split it into sections so you can only spoil what you want ^_^. I don’t expect you to read the whole thing for fun, just use it for reference if you are unsure about something.

All Information here is from personal and friends experiences on multiple accounts over multiple Play styles. It will be constantly updating and if I make a mistake, for the love of god correct me. This first section will be on armors and spells found within the Dragon born DLC. If obtaining an armor requires revealing apart of the MQ, a (*) will be placed next to it.

So after hours of standing at a forge going through the menu and finding all the clothes I sold or found I have finally almost finished the armor section. That’s right, only almost. My eyes feel like salt is being fed directly in them. Not to mention I had the smith standing next to me saying “I’m glover Mallory and I’m an asshole” the entire time. Also, if you want to spice it up, make it look pretty, anything like that, tell me. I aims to please.

If you want to find something specific use (on mac) CMD+F. I assume it's the same sort of thing on PC

So without further ado, the armor section!

     Sets will be grouped together

    Bonemold Guard Armor

This is a craft able armor that looks exactly like Pauldron armor with a bit of badass looking cloth on the front. This is obtainable by crafting 1 Iron ingot, 10 bone meal and 2 netch leather.

The only NPC I’ve found wearing guard armor is captain veneth in raven rock.

    AR of 72. WGT: 34

    Bonemold Pauldron Armor

Is a craft able armor that is essentially bonemold armor with shoulder pads and higher AR. Requires the same as guard armor to craft. Difference higher AR. This bonemold chest piece is the easiest to acquire out side of crafting, as soon as you get in to raven rock, a full set of B-mold armor is available to the east, where you first meet captain veneth is a dead body with the set ready for taking. Also available on dead redoran guard during *Served cold.

    AR of 75. WGT: 36

    Bonemold Armor

The most inferior armor piece, has the lowest AR of all the B-mold chest pieces and can only be acquired through smithing and buying. Needs same ingredients as above, not worth it.

    AR of 72. WGT: 34

    Bonemold Helmet

Craft able and buyable, can be found with pauldron armor, is the only B-mold helmet currently available.  Made with: 1 netch leather, 6 bone meal, 1 iron ingot AR: 38. WGT: 4.5

    Bonemold Boots

Craft able and buyable, can be found with pauldron armor. Made with: 1 netch leather, 6 bone meal, 1 iron ingot. AR: 27. WGT: 7

    Bonemold Shield

Craft able and buyable, can be found with pauldron armor: AR 31, WGT: 8. Made with 1 netch leather, 8 bone meal, 1 Iron ingot

    Bonemold Gauntlets

Craft able and buyable, can be found with pauldron armor. AR: 27. WGT: 3.5. Made with 1 netch leather, 4 bone meal, 1 iron ingot.

*In order to get Advanced bone mold armor you need to be apart of the thieves guild OR visit castle karstagg. Advanced Bonemold has a better AR, but is heavier and only available in pauldron form.

    Sexy rating out of 10:

    8/10

Note: BoneMold is under the steel smithing perk

    Chitin Armor

Chitin armor can be found on reavers and random wandering dunmer people. Chitin light armor makes you look like a badass bounty hunter, demon hunter when coupled with the nightingale hood. It benefits from one of the light armor perks. To make it use: 2 netch leather, 5 chitin plate, iron ingot. OR buy it. OR (spoiler) After the final descent quest you enter a room with a guy wearing this. Ruin his day and take it. AR: 42, WGT 4

    Chitin Helmet

*Makes you look like a retarded beatle.

Pretty rare to find ON people actually, I’ve only seen one. It’s on the guy in the tavern in raven rock. The mercenary if I remember correctly. It has an AR:19 and WGT: 1, a fucking sensational ratio if your level 20 or below. To make: 1 netch leather, 2 chitin plate, 1 iron ingot

    Chitin Boots

Basically nothing special about them, found with chitin armour generally. AR: 12. WGT: 1 To make: 1 netch leather, 1 iron ingot, 3 chitin plate

    Chitin Bracers

*Look like turtles on your arms

Literally the same stats and locations as boots. Only difference is remove one of the chitin plates and it has +1 weight. Logic right? AR: 12 WGT: 2. To make: 1 netch leather, 2 chitin plates, 1 iron ingot.

Morag Tong Armor is a black variant of the light chitin armour. First found in quest: Served cold.

    Chitin Heavy Armor:

The of course heavier variant, features an extra plate on the front and 2 plate shoulder guards. AR: 90, WGT: 35. To make it is 2 netch leather, 6 chitin plates, 1 corundum ingot. You can find a full set of this during the quest *served cold when killing the final guy*

    Chitin Heavy Gauntlets

Feature some badass claws, looks good on beast type characters such as werewolves. AR 32, WGT, 5. To make is 1 netch leather, 3 chitin plates, 1 corundum ingot

    Chitin Heavy Boots:

    hehe, they look like slippers…

AR: 32, WGT 6, to make: netch leather, 4 chitin plates, 1 corundum ingot

    Chitin heavy helm:

AR: 43, WGT 5, to make is the exact same as heavy boots.

Over all this entire section of armors fit pretty well with mercenarys, bounty hunters and without the helms, werewolves.

Note: All chitin is under the elven smithing perk

    ___________________________________________________________________________________________________

    Nordic Carved Armor:

Nordic Carved armor is probably one of the most badass armor sets yet. It fits all kinds of character archetypes and is pretty decent, being 2nd in line for strongest armor set (AR per WGT) in the DLC. AR: 98, WGT: 37. Can be bought, crafted and found. This is very common armor in that in every reaver camp is a reaver lord, ALL sporting this armor. However making it takes A LOT of items. To make: 3 leather strips, 6 steel ingots, 1 ebony ingot, quicksilver ingot.

    Nordic Carved Helmet

Is resembling of the stormcloak officer helm except that this is metal. And metal is cool. AR: 45. WGT: 7. To make: 2 leather strips, 4 steel ingots, 1 ebony ingot, 1 quicksilver ingot.

    Nordic Carved Boots

Craftleable, bought and found, these boots actually look comfortable. AR: 34, WGT 6. To make: 2 leather strips, 4 steel ingots, 1 ebony ingot, 1 quicksilver ingot.

    Nordic Carved Gauntlets

A nice pair of guantlets, a tad rare than the other pieces, has better WGT than boots and needs less ingredients. AR: 34, WGT: 5, To make 2 leather strips, 3 steel ingots, 1 ebony ingot, 1 quicksilver ingot.

Note: Under advanced armours smithing perk

     ___________________________________________________________________________________________________

They are the basic DLC armours. The following sets require extra to get, or are unique. Only stalhrim is available to smith from scratch. Problem being is the account I completed the appropriate quest does not yet have ebony smithing. Any help with this would be appreciated. Expect Spoilers.

    Deathbrand Armor

    Deathbrand Helmet

    Deathbrand Boots

    Deathbrand Gloves

These are stahlrim light armor pieces with unique enchantments. To get these you must find deathbrands treasure map and use it. The armour rating weight ratio is insane making this a must have. Spoilers follow:

After either discovering death brands map or talking to a bar keep you will start the quest. you must complete the quest "Deathbrand". Doing so will result in you receiving a full death brand armour set and scimitars.. Deathbrand locations are marked:

The death brand armour enchantments interact with each other (The scimitars do as well) as well as giving a bonus.

    (All improved to exquisite, sorry)

    DeathBrand Helm:

AR: 42, WGT: 2. Enchantments are: water breathing + 100 armour while wearing complete set of death brand armour. Will not surpass armour cap.
