Path to the Ebony Warrior: Chapter 8 - The End

  • "The time is upon us!"

"Let's do this then! Where do I need to go?"

"Fast travel to a town. He'll find you."

A short walk from Arcwind Point brought Marcellus to Riften, where he was approached by the Ebony Warrior.

"Greetings, Ebony Warrior! I have long awaited your challenge."

"Well, you're straight to the point. Meet me at my Last Vigil."

"I will! It shall be a battle for the ages!"

Marcellus hiked through the mountains to the east of Fort Greenwall, reaching the Warrior's camp.

"This is it. He's letting you strike the first blow."

    "Divines guide me!"

"STENDARR HAVE MERCY ON YOU!" Marcellus shouted as he charged at the Warrior, shield raised and mace in hand. Bowling him over, the Warrior fell to the ground.

    "Now's our chance!"

"I'm not striking him with his blade in its sheath and him knocked on the ground!"

"He'd do the same to you!"

Swing, swing, overhead! Marcellus smashed the Ebony Warrior with this vicious combination of strikes, crushing bones and armor alike. The Ebony warrior tried to stand, but to no avail. 7 seconds and it was all over.

    "At last... Sovngarde..."

"You told me this guy was a challenge."

"It seems some others I know overreacted..."

    "Obviously."

"It's been good working with you, Marcellus. It's time for me to go - perhaps we shall cross paths again..."

And with that, the Guide was gone. Marcellus waited at the Vigil for a time, and got an idea. Trudging down the mountain from the campsite, he located a nearby Vampire lair. Slaying the guard at the entrance with a single stroke of his sword, he strode into the cavern. The vampires looked at him and drew weapons.

    "I killed the Ebony Warrior."

    The End

Authors Note: First off, thanks everyone for reading! I was thinking about this series a week ago when I'd finished my preparations, and I got a pretty cool idea. I could continue writing in this world, 30 years later where the Challenger's exploits have become legend - but the man himself has disappeared from the world. Two young treasure hunters have come to Skyrim to recover his legendary equipment. The story would follow them as they trek around Skyrim, following the Challenger's path, and locating clues to his current location. Thoughts?

Nice! Have you read any books by David Eddings by any chance? Voice-in-the-head thing seems very familiar ;)

I would love to see a 30 years later to this story, perhaps the treasure hunters end up finding some old fossil in the ass end of nowhere in an inn trying to drink his volume in mead, telling anyone who would listen that he was 'Dragon born' and 'He kille...  more

Probably a bit more serious, kind of like an action comedy film

Would the follow-up story be comedic or serious? Either would be interesting.
