Path to the Ebony Warrior: Chapter 5 - Forbidden Exploits

  • "This isn't working. The Storm Thrall from the scroll isn't regenerating fast enough - this is going to take much too long."

    "That's it, I'm done."

    "All this wrongdoing for nothing?"

"If we're going to do this we might as well do it properly. What do you know of Hermaeus Mora?"

"Daedric Prince of Knowledge. His plane, Apocrypha, is a giant library. His artifact is the Oghma Infinium."

"And what do you know of the book?"

"Imparts great knowledge to the reader before being reclaimed by the Prince."

"A-ha. I was reading in a - um, an Elder Scroll a way to thrwart Mora and gain infinite knowledge from the book."

"Working for an evil Daedra now are we?"

"It's that or we go and lockpick, pickpocket, and assassinate our way around the province."

"Fine... where do we need to go?"

"Remember that Septimus fellow you never bothered returning the Lexicon to? Go and see him. You'll also need to buy some bookshelves for Breezehome."

"I'll just get the book first..."

After a few lengthy trips around the province, Marcellus returns the Lexicon and gathers enough elf blood for Septimus.

"Thank the Divines that's over with. I've spoken to a Daedric Prince twice, watched a madman get disintegrated, and now possess a book of forbidden knowledge."

"Now, Hermaeus Mora doesn't have the power to reclaim the tome if you place it on a bookshelf. The stupid git didn't even think of that even though his plane is a giant library."

    "The Daedra are that stupid?"

"Easily overlooked by all from your universe. Careful study by a being such as myself was required to find this."

"I'm not sure I want to know what careful study means..."

Travelling back to Breezehome with it's newly purchased bookshelf, Marcellus is ready to read the tome.

"Listen very carefully. As soon as you're finished reading the book, close it and place it on the shelf. Keep repeating this until you've learned all it has to offer."

Reading late into the night, Marcellus finally lets the Prince reclaim the book.

"How do people ever have time to study all this normally?"

    "Beats me."

"So that's it? I'm ready to face him?"

"You wish buddy. Knowledge is nothing if you lack the correct tools..."

You mentioned "Right tools" so I got worried, I thought the Voice was gonna screw logic and make him use Daedric despite the cap :P

Silly Matt, at this level I can reach the armor cap with pretty much whatever I want, and Dragonbone weapons are better anyway
