One month since Skyrim arrived! How are you doing?

  • Amazingly, it is exactly four weeks since Friday November 11th - and Skyrim was released to the eager Elder Scrolls fandom.

    So, how are you doing?

I was interested to see, in the comments to the previous poll result, that quite a few of you didn't vote in the Guild poll because you either haven't started on the Guilds, or at least haven't finished quite a few of them.

I probably shouldn't be surprised, because I'm in exactly that situation myself - I've finished the College of Winterhold quest line and become Archmage, but I haven't touched the others... and won't be for a good while, as my character backstory doesn't lend itself to any of the other Guilds.

And, since we are in 'confession mode', let me say that I have only visited two of the five main cities in the game! Like most people, I've got a base in Whiterun, where Lydia waits loyally in Breezeholme for me to call on her for those quests that need a bit of muscle - and I've been to Windhelm to join the Stormcloaks. But I've not yet visited Solitude, or Riften, or Markath...

So far, I'm at around 80 hours of game play, and the way things are going I fully expect that multiply by at least four of five, as I try things, make different characters, do quests, role-play, explore and generally have fun. I don't even play the game every day, so I'm not suffering from the overload that I've heard some talk about.

But I also realise thats not how many people play.

You blast through the quest lines with a 'do it all' character, playing for many hours in marathon Skyrim sessions! I wonder how those of you who do that are feeling about Skyrim one month in? Are you bored? Are you still having fun? Perhaps you already shelved the game and moved onto something else?

There's a poll for this topic. It uses a new poll widget - because the other one kept breaking - so I'm hoping its going to work properly! There's a good few options for how we are finding Skyrim - so vote now, and tell us your views in the thread.

Level 40 mage that has finished the College of Winterhold questline and she is just a little ways on the main quest--still dealing with what Dragonborn means.  She is a thane in all cities except Windhelm, as she is steering clear of the civil war.  But i...  more

I've played the game on my X-Box almost every day since 11/11/11, mostly for a couple hours each night after work and sometimes longer on weekends but life's responsibilities often pull me reluctantly away from the game. I am far from getting tired of it ...  more

I have full on role-played and built my character up in line with his back story for the first time ever in a game and am loving it. My journal is over-flowing with stuff to do and i have found dozens of tombs, barrows, forts, that i have yet to clear not...  more

In love with it. Lindariel now is a powerful archer, no wild beast can harm her, and can take down a snowy sabre-tooth cat with a single arrow (my favourite of wild beasts by the way). Wearing only fur armor combined with powerful archery skill improvemen...  more

I would totaly agree with you Sancre Tor. I too, play slow and savior the game. Eventually you'll have to face the music and get some stonger armor though. haha! Deer and bunnys don't fight back. I also play one character. I imagine you don't fast travel,...  more

Well, me, i want to enjoy the game...

Some people support that they dont like the game, because its "slow" and monotonous... Well maybe they are correct. In fact, my opinion is the following.

You can make the game really fast, many p...  more

I only have one character.  I don't role-play my characters when I play a game - I just try to experience all the game has to offer with just the one.  Eventually, when more mods and addons come out, or I upgrade my graphics card, I'll start a new charact...  more

I was about 80 in before I went to the other cities, as well.  You'll speed things up eventually.  Eventually you'll find so many places that fast-traveling becomes far easier, and then you can zip about and finish up some quests proper.  Once you've clea...  more
