Putting out the welcome mat

  • The prophets of doom around on this site were telling me that this site would resound to the sound of tumbleweed once we got Skyrim into our sweaty hands. More than a few people told me 'Surely you realise that nobody will want to come on this site once the game has come out....'

Of course, I took no notice, opting for a more cautious 'wait and see' approach. And its been interesting to see how things are shaping up post-release. For a start we've had 48 new people sign up to this site AFTER the game released - which hardly gives weight to the idea that nobody wants to talk on a website about an already released game. And whilst a couple of people made a bit of song and dance about leaving the site and deleting their profiles, that pales into insignificance at the numbers of new people coming here.

Yes, of course, site activity is down. That's entirely as expected! People are playing the game, for goodness sake... so a slowdown was utterly inevitable. But check out the poll to the right. Around 1500 votes already. We'd probably have been around closer to 2500 by this stage of a site poll in previous weeks - but still, something around 50%-60% of normal is pretty decent considering the amount of time we are pumping into Skyrim.

So its time to put out the welcome mat for the people who joining the site on a regular basis now. Here is a platform for a whole range of Skyrim related fun. You can share your in-game experiences in a blog, upload screenshots or videos, and ask questions of other members in our Q&A section. There are plenty of forum discussions underway, and then we have our Groups where you can meet with other Skyrim fanatics in more specialised communities. We really are a one-stop shop for all things Skyrim related - and its all friendly, helpful and supportive!

    Welcome all of you....

You will always get the more loyal people that have been on the site since the beginning but you will obviously lose some, despite this you will also get new members. People that want to share their experiences and get some tips on cool things to do.

I think the site activity we are having is great! It means that people still come to this site, whether to ask questions, discuss game related info, share their playthroughs, or just talk and have fun.

I admit that Skyrim is taking away a large...  more
