The Best of Tips and Tricks 2011-2016

  • One of the enduring features of our site over the last five years is our Tips and Tricks group. Many of you will not remember that it was first called 'Skyrim Glitches' and the very first host was our erstwhile Overseer, Todd.

    Anyway, Albino has trawled the archives and picked out his personal favourites from each of the last five years. Here is what he has to say:

    =================================================

    For the T&T Group, Teccam and I have decided to go with a simple feature for the site’s fifth anniversary, showcasing an individual Tip/Trick from each year that the group has been around. Enjoy :)

    2012: Aetherial Crown and Standing Stone Daily Powers – The fact that you can use the Aetherial Crown to bypass the cooldown on the Greater Powers that certain Standing Stones provide wasn’t always common knowledge; in fact, this post is the first mention of it on the site, if not the entire internet. It’s also interesting to take a look at the comments; you can see Henson formulating what would eventually become one of the site’s most famous builds: The Necromancer.

    2013: A Comprehensive Treatise on Wards – I’ll admit; I was never the biggest fan of wards (though I do use them from time to time), but it’s nice to see Vazgen shedding some light on an oft-overlooked aspect of Skyrim.

    2014: An Argument for 'Fire Storm' – James is quite possibly the best thing to ever happen to the T&T Group, and this post is just one of many reasons why. This discussion forms part two of his discussion on taper mechanics, and shows how you can push the “afterburn” damage of Firestorm to well over 1000, and that’s not even including the base damage!

    2015: Cool Menu Tips – These tips are essential for console players. With only two hotkeys to work with, it’s important to make the most out of them and minimize the amount of time spent in the menu.

    2016: Guide to Crafting a Never Ending Supply of Exploding Bolts – I love this tip not because of its effect, but simply because of the way it works. As Noodles himself notes, it’s not a glitch or an exploit; it’s simply utilizing a combination of a gameplay mechanics in a creative way.

    Good work gents, love that Vazgen's Wards are in there!  Very helpful it was for Alastor and I for the Prophet of Vivec.
