Into the future

  • I notice there have been quite a few blogs or posts in the Q&A about the future of this site once Skyrim is released. And I've had various emails and messages on the subject too.

So I thought it would be good to say something about that.

The honest answer is that none of knows what will happen. Everything at this stage is purely speculation...

Some people are predicting that the site activity will plummet to zero on Friday. Others are saying that - on the contrary - the site will boom as people want to come and find out more about the game or post their in-game blogs.

But none of us knows what will happen?

I'm pretty relaxed about the whole thing actually. I took the precaution of arranging for the payment schedule for this site with Ning to be on a month-by-month basis, so I'm actually only ever committed to it until the end of the month.

If the site dies after Skyrim releases, well, we will be here until the end of the next payment cycle. Then I'll let the site quietly fade away (it won't just suddenly disappear, you'll get notice of it). But if things stay lively and interesting, then I'll keep doing it for so long as I myself enjoy it.

Then I'll walk away with my head held high, knowing that I created something that people enjoyed, at least for a time. That's (internet) life - nothing lasts forever!

So, I guess we will see what we will see...

We sure will notice a sharp change in the site's progress, but I think it will be for better. People could come here and discuss the things they've found in Skyrim. I will do it for sure. It will be more fun than ever!

My activity on this site will only go UP on 11-11-11, because my preorder won't come until the end of the month and I want to see some coverage on quests and easter eggs Plus, this actually is a really good site

Nothing lasts forever, everything changes, everything has an end.

That being said, I doubt that November 11th will be the end of the Skyrim Blog.

With Skyrim being a complex and multifaceted single player game I would think that there will be plenty of people with plenty to discuss about their experences in Skyrim - surely this site will be an ideal venue for such discussion. I do think though that...  more

I wouldn't worry too much guys.  We will be sorting how with Paul how the site can continue to be a thriving community and source of information as the game approaches and eventually goes live and beyond.
Much of that work is already done and we ha...  more

I imagine the site will take a dip in it's number of daily visitors and active members, but that the rest will continue to come back, if not out of a sense of loyalty to this site that has helped to keep us sane this last year. The way I see it is there a...  more
