CONTEST Design the new background for this site

  • Hopefully you all have realised the current site header (the banner across the top that says 'The Tamriel Vault' with two guys suited up in Power Armour) is temporary. It was put there just for the Fallout 4 Announcement and E3 hype.

We now need something more permanent. And this is where you guys come in. Today we are kicking off a contest to find a fresh, engaging and exciting header. It's time for you creative types to fire up Photoshop and get to work.

Needless to say there are a few restrictions and guidelines that you need to follow

    • Size must be 2347 pixels by 990 pixels.
    • Entries must be saved in .JPG or .PNG format in RGB colour (72 dpi for web). PSD files are also accepted.
    • Maximum file size of 500K so people with wind-up Internet like Ben don't kill us in our sleep
    • Your design must be your original work, and able to used on our site without restriction.
    • You must include visual elements from BOTH The Elder Scrolls AND Fallout.

Read these guidelines carefully and stick to them, as entries that don't comply will be automatically disqualified. There is a Help Thread in the Art Group for people to discuss this contest and get help from your friendly Art Hosts, Golden Fool, Alice and Curse Never Dying.

OK so what do we mean by 'background'? This is where we got all confused last time we tried launching this contest! The site background is the large rectangular block that goes right across the top of the page. The text element goes in a different part of the header and we have already come up with this. Download the .png or .psd file (whichever you prefer) from the thread in the Art Group. You will then be able to use this file as you make your background, to ensure that everything fits together well.

Entries must be posted in the Art Group no later than Friday July 10th. That gives you just over a week to get those creative juices flowing. The contestants (or shortlist of them, should there be a flood of entries) will be entered into a poll that following week, and the site members will choose the winner.

Now you may well ask about the prize for this event? And its really quite simple. The winning design will become our site header. It will across the top of The Tamriel Vault for the foreseeable future, as well as on our Facebook and Twitter page and other places around the web.

In short, YOUR design could become 'the face' of The Tamriel Vault in this exciting period in the run-up to Fallout 4 - and beyond!

So, what are you waiting for. Get creative!

What do you think of some kind of clashing landscape like this Vaz? :-)

We had pure Skyrim for a few tears. I think we're allowed to change it up for a bit now.

Pure Skyrim, to a temporary Fallout (Tamriel in title btw...), to a mixed banner is the logical progression.

In the end, that's what we ask people to do. Create a Fallout/TES mixed wallpaper with given dimensions so I can use it for the blog background ;)

It's not about accessing the site from the back end. The editor I use to change the theme is exactly the same as for any profile page. You might've forgotten to use the CSS code for the result you've got below. Here is what I got with your wallpaper.

Lol, seriously it seems like under the current requirements you're the only person here who could create a valid entry because you can access the site from the back end...
It's no wonder people haven't got involved.

Tbh, it's quite a pain in the ass to make it fit. That's part of a reason why making each theme takes me about a week.
Can you send that image to me to try? Just attach in the helpdesk for the contest.
