MEMBER SPOTLIGHT Raidriar

  • Call me biased if you will, but Raidriar's spotlight has been both long overdue and well deserved. He's a well rounded and highly respected member of the blog, whose contributed to just about every major group the blog has to offer. From character builds, stories, and even live role play, nothing Raidriar has put into the blog has been anything less than excellent. With that being said, lets delve deeper and learn more about Raidriar, shall we?

"My real name is Sam (or Samuel, but I only my mother calls me that). Hence why I first went with Samjt as a username, since it's my first name followed by the initials of my middle and surnames. I'm from a quaint little village called Hoby in the county of Leicestershire. It's a rather picturesque place with some of the oldest houses in the county."

Raidriar is a man of many interesting hobbies, badminton and playing the trumpet in orchestra to name a few. Perhaps his greatest interests are reading and writing, and he's quite talented, especially for someone so young. While most of us are too busy fiddling away with touch screens, Raidriar has amassed a veritable library of books. George R.R. Martin, Brandon Sanderson and Patrick Rothfuss are just a few of the big name authors in his collection. Raidriar's dream since childhood has been becoming a famous author, and he says that it's his love of reading that has lead him to writing.

As I mentioned before, Raidriar has made a number of stellar contributions to the blog over the last three years. Easily his most notable contributions have been his many amazing character builds. (Get this man's builds to Legendary already :P)

"I found the Skyrim Blog in late 2012, after I bought Skyrim for my 14th birthday. I believe I started googling new and exciting characters to play, and stumbled upon Mason's page. Eventually I decided to join up in May 2013, and it ended up keeping me interested in a game far longer than I ever have been before. I started posting builds, and collaborating with Curse Never Dying, who has been an amazing collab partner ever since he first suggested some tips for our Skaal Crusader."

Its been my pleasure to collaborate with Raidriar over the last three years. We've gained a bit of a reputation for being the dynamic duo of character building. Raidriar has consistently put forth amazing and innovative ideas on the table, and not to mention he's a walking, talking encyclopedia of all things alchemy. Seriously. I'm willing to bet at least three of his characters have cured cancer.

Easily my favorite build of his has to be 'The Prowler'. The prowler, to me, completely rewrote the book on how to be a sneak thief. With  so many cool gadgets, spells and clever tricks up his sleeve its impossible not to enjoy yourself with that build. Its easily among the most unique rogues the blog has to offer.

I've always taken notice of how helpful and supportive Raidriar is, especially with character builds. Whenever someone needs help with a build, Raidriar has been there (Hell, he'd write the damn thing for you if it included alchemy). I count Raidriar among my best pals on the blog. He's been lending me his support from my first build to the present.

Aside from Elder Scrolls, Raidriar really enjoys shooters and competitive games. Among his favorite shooting games the ever popular TitanFall (What? No Destiny?). He also enjoys RPGs like Dragon's Dogma and Monster Hunter, as well as action-adventure games like the Batman: Arkham series and Shadow of Mordor. Perhaps his favorite genre is stealth games, in particular Thief and Styx: Master of Shadows.

He is currently playing Evolve on the xbox one. Some of the games he's lookingforward to getting this year are the Witcher 3, Batman: Arkham Knight and Hellraid. At press time Raidriar is kicking himself for not getting a PS4 for Bloodborne.

Let's all give Raidriar a round of applause for the time he's spent here and his many wonderful contributions. Be sure to pester him in the comments if you have any questions.

I'm new to the TamrielVault, but not to gaming (or roleplaying, and definitely not writing!), and this guy's feature is mind blowing.
And, by the way, alchemy had the best damn comeback in TES history.

Thanks guys! It was so nice waking up to this.

Also, the last paragraph about me on the blog is surprising correct xD

It's all an elaborate scheme the Dark Sovereign causes cancer, the other builds get payed to cure it and then split the money with the Dark Sovereign and they all become rich

On second thought, the Dark Sovereign's alchemy would more than likely cause cancer.

Kudos and congratulations to the man whose alchemist builds have cured cancer (best line ever, btw, Curse xD).
Been nothing but impressed by Radriar, not just as a builder, but as a person... a well-written and well-deserved spotlight!

Fun fact: Raid was the one who greeted me first on the Blog, as well as my first friend. Though we ain't particularly close, he was my newbie guide in a sense and without his meddling hand, I never would've grown into such a admirable, role-model blog mem...  more

Cheers to Sam! If I've ever had a profoundly badass RP experience in Skyrim, it was certainly during all those hundred and sixty hours or so that I played the Prowler!

Good man. Great spotlight, Curse. Though, tbh, I'm surprised you picked Raidriar -- I didn't realize you two got along well.
