Wiping the slate clean

  • Greetings fellow Skyrim Bloggers!

Over the past 24 hours, Emer and myself have made a start on setting  a course for this site going forward. There will be exciting announcements to come in the next day or so, keep an eye on the front page for developments!

One of the things we are all too aware about is that the last few weeks have seen unprecedented turmoil on the site. Things are have been said - sometimes in anger - that have been hurtful. Various people have distanced themselves from the site, others have taken the step of removing their account, and others have been ...err... 'let go'. Some of those are people who have made very considerable contributions to this site over the years - contributions that we don't want to forget and can ill-afford to lose.

So for this reason we are giving everyone a fresh start - a 'clean slate' if you like.

Accounts that have been suspended over the past couple of months are being restored, and we invite those who have removed their accounts to make a new account and take an active part in the site once more.

It's time to wipe the slate clean, and put the past behind us. Emer has the stones to admit his own mistakes - and it takes a big man to do that. Now its up to the rest of us - ALL of us - to similarly wipe the slate clean and make a fresh start with The Skyrim Blog.

Of course, wiping the slate clean is not a carte blanche for people to act like assholes. The site rules are still in operation and WILL be applied fairly and without discrimination or favouritism. Those of you who have been here from the time when I was Site Owner before will recall that I have absolutely no problems whatsoever in bringing down the ban hammer to rid the site of trolls and idiots.

So don't anyone think for a moment that this amnesty means that people can feel free to troll the site. It doesn't. Anyway who thinks - and acts - otherwise will find themselves on the receiving end of my ban hammer, which will mean a perm-ban and IP block.

We welcome everyone who wants to contribute and restore this site to its former glories. But I have zero tolerance for people  who want to ruin it for others. I've never allowed the tiny minority to spoil this site for the vast majority - and that's not about to change.

Have a good evening folks - and I look forward to sharing an exciting announcement tomorrow, about a great new initiative on the site for next week.

I'm not saying we should just ignore the newer members, ofcourse we shouldn't. But I think having some older members who've known eachother for several years now would help lay.. a sort of foundation (more than there already is) of a long lasting communit...  more

It would be wonderful to bring back all the old members. They brought much to the site. But let's not ignore the fact that we're bringing in a lot of new members with so much they could potentially offer the community. Anyone of them could be the next mas...  more

    Some rambling below:
If we can get enough old members back, another Golden Age (subjective term in this case, I know) might dawn. Though we tried to bring it back before, it didn't work for several reasons, mainly because too many discussions about ...  more

Unfortunately, I doubt I'll ever come back to my glory days here on the blog, but that's only because I've just moved onto other games, etc. Damn you FromSoftware!!! But this site will always have a place in my heart and I do STILL stop by every now and a...  more

If old members start coming back, I guess I might as well.
I lost touch with the blog almost a year ago, and haven't felt the need to come back really. Though if the slate will actually be clean, of which I have my doubts, and old members come back...  more

Hello to everyone, I signed up around a month or two ago and didn't really do much except comment on posts that interested me. I'm pleased to say that, as of today, 4/29/15, that is changing. Hello, once more, and have a good day.
