The Friday Poll Round Up

  • It's been a while since we last rounded up poll results - in fact we've got more to roundup than can reasonably be put into one blog post. So I've chosen what I think are the four most interesting recent polls! OK here goes then...

    Favourite Elder Scrolls Game

I asked you to nominate your favourite Elder Scrolls game and not surprisingly Skyrim came out the clear winner. Of course quite a few people have only come to The Elder Scrolls series with the current iteration, so that helped bulk up the voting for Skyrim - added to which the advances in technology and Bethesda learning (at least to some extent) from past mistakes meant that Skyrim was a lock to win by a big margin.

What is interesting though is that Morrowind - now a venerable 10 year old 'classic' - beat out Oblivion for second place. Perhaps a bit of nostalgic yearning? Or a recognition that the depth and complexity of Morrowind was too 'dumbed down' when it came to Oblivion?

    Best ever Elder Scrolls DLC

This poll was looking to find your favourite Elder Scrolls DLC of all time. I made a bit of a clanger by leaving out The Knights of the Nine DLC - an omission gleefully pointed out by several members. But anyway, what we saw here was a fairly predictable win for the most recent DLC, Dragonborn. The excellent Oblivion DLC, The Shivering Isles made a strong second place - somewhat redeeming the poor showing of Oblivion in the main Elder Scrolls poll (above)

    Hours played in Skyrim

Now this was an interesting one! I asked you how many hours you had pumped into Skyrim so far. And, as you can see, there are something like a third of our site visitors who have played the game for more than 1000 hours. When you think about it that's an amazing statistic! Here is a game that's well over a year old, and still has such a loyal and active player base.

If you look at the results closely you'll see that far less people have played between 750-1000 hours. That suggests that once people get addicted to Skyrim they tend to play for a vast number of hours, with several of our members reporting gaming times of over 2000 hours. Phew!

    Favourite Dragon Priest Mask

We had a bit of rebellion on this poll - with quite a few of our XBox users not voting because the poll didn't include Dragon Priest masks added in the DLC! As a result the polling numbers were a bit lower on this poll - but never mind. Maybe we'll do it again one day, when everyone has had chance to use all the DLC...

Here we see a fairly predictable win for Kohnariik, the mask that represents the pinnacle of the collection. Krosis just edged on Morokei for 2nd place in what proved to be an interesting poll with some lively debate!

So there you have it! A quick roundup of four of the most recent polls. Remember the site poll is refreshed every Monday and we typically have around 1300-15000 votes. In fact the number of votes has been getting even larger in recent weeks, so people are obviously enjoying them!

Watch out for another Site Poll Round Up soon

Well, I think Dragonborn was first, because the people who played Oblivion and Morrowind were a minority on this site compared to the Skyrim players. Bloodmoon is my first pick, Shivering Isles second.

I excepted Shivering to be above Dragonborn, it was basically the one thing that made Oblivion worth playing. Anyway, how the heck is Hevnoraak above Otar, Vokun and Rahgot?

Yeah, I agree with Andrea. Methinks some people thought they put in more hours than they really did :P

Really? a third of the sites visitors said they played for over 1000 hours? Not saying it is impossible but a 1/3 of the site? Either people are not telling the truth or a lot of people have replace their chair with a toilet.

I think it's fairly common knowledge that this site is 100% UK owned.

I wouldn't have been able to vote then... I didn't like oblivion after awhile, and I never want to play morrowind

Armathyx:  Even if we'd all have played TES since Arena, Skyrim would still win.
Although, I agree that Skyrim would've probably still won in that case, Morrowind would've gained some more votes - perhaps, although doubtful, passing Skyrim.  Techno...  more
