The Character Build Showcase: The Strafer

  • This week Ponty has chosen The Strafer, a ranged combat build from Henson.

Let's allow Ponty to introduce this build:

A short and sweet build by experienced builder Henson, the Strafer offers a very fast paced playthrough centered around pure ranged combat. This is a build that rewards the players' skill and ability to think on their feet - the Strafer uses multiple ranged weapons including both bows and crossbows, a variety of potions and poisons, and most importantly no sneak - a nice break from many archer builds centered around sitting in dark corners taking pot-shots and enemies. If you're looking for a ranged combat build, the Strafer is a solid choice!

Clearly Henson has taken a clear vision in building this character, as he explains

The main idea surrounding this build is to be completely devoid of magic, constantly moving, and using speed/agility to dodge enemy attacks while shooting as fast as possible. I never take both Steady Hand perks, but they prove to be AMAZING. Being able to slow time down so much is effective for this build since you are constantly running and dodging, a well timed sighted-shot is what makes this build awesome.

Another aspect of this build is cooking! With the added baking as well, there are many recipes to add rather significant bonuses to stamina and stamina regeneration, both welcome additions to help make this character a workhorse of combat archery.

If you're looking for a great ranged combat build, then take a look at The Strafer.

I am flattered! I loved this build, and this made me think it might need a revamp. This one was so much fun because it only used 4 skills!

    Thanks for the feature!

Was just confused cause I thought this was supposed to bring attention to builds that are struggling in apprentice... My mistake I guess.

I consider underrated as a build no one has really liked and it is buried by other builds... This, it is almost has 40+ likes. People know about it.

I get where you're coming from Bryn, but underrated doesn't necessarily mean in has less than a certain number of likes. I could find a fair few examples of builds in the legendary and master groups that I'd consider underrated.

Actually I agree wi-... Yeah, 38 likes might be little too high for a build to be showcased.

Now, I don't want to sound rude here... But isn't the point of this to showcase underrated builds? If that's the case, why are they showcasing this one? It has 38 likes. I would think underrated is in the apprentice section (less than 30 likes). Now I'm n...  more
