Site News Update

  • We have now being going for almost a week, and what an incredible week it has been - we currently have 842 members, with just under 200 blogs added to the site, daily forum discussions, and a whole slew of photos, videos, comments and posts.

Inevitably things have been a bit chaotic, which was only to be expected. But now that I have seen how things are starting to pan out, its time to bring a bit of order and organisation to that site. I want to use this post to explain a few things and respond to some concerns that people have had.

    SITE EMAIL

A number of you have contacted me to say that you are getting overwhelmed by site email. Unfortunately, I don't have the ability to turn that off by default - there IS an easy way for you to manage things. If you click on 'settings' in the Sign Up Block, then go to 'email settings' you will have a series of check boxes to allow or disallow site email for all sorts of categories. You can even opt to turn off email from the site entirely!

    TIP OF THE DAY

Each day I post a short 'tip' for how to use the site. Over time this will build into a comprehensive guide to the various features of this site. You can access these via the 'Notes' tab on the top menu. Please be sure to browse these tips before contacting me with problems - you might find the answer you are looking for...

    CONTACTING ME

I'm also happy for members to contact me, but it is better to do that via the Site Messaging feature. I don't read my Profile Wall all the time, so you will get a quicker response by sending me a Message.

    MODERATION

A few people have asked about site moderation, some have volunteered for the job! We won't be having moderators in the traditional sense, but rather people will be given the job of looking after various parts of the site e.g videos, photos, blogs, groups etc.

I will make a post, probably tomorrow, giving a list of roles that need to be filled and the requirements of those who wish to apply

    GROUPS

I set up one Group - dedicated to Elder Scrolls lore - and it has been going well. Groups enable people with similar interests to come together in a more focussed and dedicated way, without things getting lost in the general busyness of the site. If you would like to see a new Group on a particular area, then please message me.

Expect to see a few new groups popping up over the next day or two...

Finally, and this goes back to site email, even if you want to block all other site email, please would members check the 2nd box down from the top (email me when I receive a message from the Skyrim Blog). This means that when I send out a site-wide message you will receive it. Think of it as similar to the email subscription on the old site. You'll only get one or two emails a day with this box checked - but if you don't then you will miss stuff!

Thanks for all your contribution and support so far...

Alex, it should be reasonably straight forward.
    1. Blogs : hit Blogs on the top menu. Click on 'add'
    2. Groups : hit Groups on the menu, click on the group you want (there is only one at the present time), then click on 'Join this group'

I'm one of those people not used to Facebook... so it's taking a bit of time for me to get used to the new site. But I appreciate all the work Paul has been doing to make the transition as painless as possible! Thanks, Paul!

    Thanks PJ
It's also worth mentioning, for everyones information, there is a very decent Search engine on the site. Right at the top right of the main page. I just tried it and a search on 'elder scrolls lore' took me right to the posts....

Angry Phoenix, The old lore posts are posted in the Lore Group page.  Go to Groups, click on Lore, and you will find them posted on the right hand side, down a ways.
