The Friday Round Up

  • Poll Results

We've got two polls to round up this week as we didn't have a Friday Roundup last week. First up we have last weeks poll about the future direction of the Elder Scrolls series, bearing in mind the announcement of The Elder Scrolls Online. Well, it turns out that most of you think that Bethesda should simply act as if ESO never happened! Here are the full results from a poll of just under 1000 people.

Since we know that ESO will be set in the 2nd Era, it wouldn't be that hard for Bethesda to act as if nothing had changed by making The Elder Scrolls VI in the 4th (or even later) era and opting for another province.

And what on earth possessed 5% of you to say there won't even be an Elder Scrolls VI? Bethesda would have to be insane NOT to do another game after the runaway success of Skyrim....

Our current poll piggy backs onto this poll and - bearing in mind you seem to want The Elder Scrolls VI to be set in a province or provinces of Tamriel - asks you which province. Don't forget to cast your vote in this poll!

Then, two weeks ago, we had a poll about 'collectibles'. Now I screwed up this poll by forgetting to add in the option for 'none of the above' - and since many, many people haven't completed any of the collectibles, you weren't able to vote. Sorry about that! However, for those who did vote, here are the results:

Now, what is surprising (to me, at any rate) is the extremely low returns in this poll. Add in the fact that at least half of you said you couldn't cast a vote, we see that only a small fraction of you have even come close to 'beating' Skyrim!

Take the Guild Questlines for example. I'd have expected most people to have completed all of the Guilds. But only 14% of those able to express an opinion were able say they'd even done that. That probably equates to around 6-7% of the readership of the site. Pretty amazing for a game that's over a year old!

    Blackwood Crossing Group

I've had a few messages and comments about this Group. It's true to say that, in the first few days, the new Group did somewhat 'take over' the Activity Stream of the site. I'm grateful that the Host Team of Blackwood Crossing worked hard to locate and install 'chat windows' to the Group, which diverted much of the 'chat' away from the Activity Stream.

And, as usually happens, the Group settled down anyway after the initial rush. So, whilst I did block the Group from the Activity Stream at one point, that is no longer necessary. I've kept a careful eye on the Activity Stream this week, and its not been the case that Blackwood Crossing has dominated.

So, 'all's well that ends well' (as the saying goes). The roleplaying side of things isn't my bag personally, but I'm happy to have the Group for those who do enjoy it. Go along and join up if you enjoy role-playing.

    Deathmatch

Having messed up the Collectible Poll with the lack of a 'None of the above' button, I didn't make the same mistake with this week's Deathmatch - and, guess what - the 'None of the above' option actually won!

The full results are in the Deathmatch 'block' on the left, but the two leading builds - the Avenger Druid and the Illusion Assassin - crept over the 10 'likes' barrier to survive on the site. The other two builds now face the wrath of Mason's battle axe.

    Christmas Chat Party

Eagle-eyed observers will have noticed that we didn't have Chat on the first weekend of December. Partly that was due to the fact I was extremely tied up and busy that weekend, but also because I was intending us to have a Christmas Chat Party later in December.

This Skyrim Blog Christmas Party will be held sometime next weekend (suggestions for the time are welcome) and there'll be announcements and invites later next week.

I do not have any of those achievements, never done the thieves guild all the way (not sure why...). Personally I could never do the Stones of Barenziah thing, I would go crazy, and I would end up just looking on a wiki for their locations...
