The Weekend Roundtable: Where next for Elder Scrolls?

  • Welcome to the 'Weekend Roundtable', the weekly feature where we discuss important Elder Scrolls related matters over the weekend.

This week, I'm still playing 'catch up' after being away all week - not only with the site, but also emails, work stuff, phone messages, as well as piles of washing, ironing etc.

So, I'm going to take a somewhat lazy approach this weekend, and offer up a topic that has certainly been discussed on this blog before - but one which I know that most people have a strong opinion about.

And the question up for discussion is this: 'Which province do you think should be the next location for an Elder Scrolls game?'

Now, please remember that the Weekend Roundtable is for considered discussion, not one word answers or spam posts. Anyone who posts 'Elswyr FTW' or similar WILL find that their post gets deleted! Don't just tell us which province should be the location, give us all a reasoned and thought-out argument as to why you have chosen a particular place.

I'll come back later and give my own personal view, but I wanted to kick off the discussion. So... who wants to go first

There's too many Tomes and lore about gods and daedra to not explore more into this. Why stay on Tamriel?

Hmmm...lots of interesting conjecture here, and personally I would have to lean towards the province formerly known as Elsweyr, though I think Vix's suggestion of Topal Bay has tons of exciting possibilities, too.  It may be the best way to fit some of Ar...  more

@ Dann, the green pact can be easily followed for a Bosmer alchemist in Skyrim. I would assume that the Bosmer would have more knowledge of animal based alchemical reagents in their home territory, so it wouldn't be that difficult in Valenwood.

So we are all agreed?... Alright, onward to Valenwood!

I would like to see a game take us to where the Dwemer disappeared to, wherever that might be. I am not sure if the next one would be the right time for it and I doubt when it is that it will be something as large as the provinces. Most likely, if it ever...  more

Pyandonea! Reasons being is that if they game was based there then you would get to play as the Maormer! chameleon like skin? I think so Plus the mysteriousness of not being and contact with the continent since the 3rd era and the fact that it could be ti...  more

OK, here's my take on it
I don't think they'll step outside the continent of Tamriel, at least not yet. The most likely candidate would obviously be Akaviri, but I don't think they'll introduce the Akaviri races in a full-blown 'Elder Scrolls : Akav...  more

I'd love a proper game about High Rock, and before anyone says "EAURH DAGGURFALL!", I'll say this: Daggerfall took place in half of High Rock and half of Hammerfell, it was a 2d game and the way I remember, it's enviroments were randomized. That's not the...  more

@Ronhald. That would be pretty cool. We haven't seen a multi province Elder scroll game in some time.

I actually think it will be two provinces.
Elsweyr and Valenwood. Both are about the same size as Skyrim, why not?
It would give us a multicultural feeling.
I think that some kind of threat would rise up, and force these two provinces to...  more
