Poll Result #3 : Weapons

    Of all the polls we've had in past months the one that attracted the most attention was one that posited this question: 'If Bethesda were to add another weapon type to Skyrim via DLC, then what would you like it to be?'. Discussion was lively, and 1435 people voted in the poll. Here are the results:

    The result shows a big majority in favour Spears, with Throwing Weapons (Shurikens and so on) in a clear second place. Interestingly, both of those types of weapons did feature in Morrowind - but have since been removed **sigh **

    I was a bit surprised that more people didn't fancy the idea of the discovery of gunpowder in Tamriel - with the blunderbus only grabbing around 7% of the vote. Perhaps in Elder Scrolls VI eh?

    Any thoughts on this poll?

    The dwemer would be a great tie in! I mean, they had steam machinery and robotics right?

    Hmm, I'm generally against firearms, but I suppose a flintlock musket would be fitting.  Maybe not even using gunpowder but some kind of soul gem shard or something more in line with TES.  Could be an interesting weapon created by the Dwemer, but long for...  more

    About gunpowder, if it's the kind of gun Vix is talking about and it's rare, it'll be fine, if it becomes more advanced then I'm against it.

    I voted for spears for reasons already mentioned, I mean, militaries around the world are still using bayonets, which have the same function as spears!

    There is a flail/whip weapon in the gamejam video. It wasn't specifically mentioned but you do see the dragonborn swinging it for a second or two. If they can get the animation working in just a week then it shouldn't be too difficult to perfect it.

    Throwing weapons are what I want( I remember this poll I voted for throwing weapons). Throwing axes, shurkins, throwing knives, ect. Skyrim needs new weapons more than anything else.

    Yeah, when you have mounted combat, you're naturally going to want to be able to skewer your enemy.
    Plus, I want to make the illusion complete and pretend I'm a Rider of Rohan...afterall...Whiterun looks like Edoras so much it's hilarious.

    I agree with Emer, keep gunpowder out of Skyrim!  Plus you already have the destruction school which acts like firearms.  I would also like to see throwing weapons.  I would love my nord barbarian character start with throwing an axe and then charge in an...  more

    My choice was easy, I chose the spear.  The spear is just too common a weapon, used by militaries throughout the ages.   It is the most common weapon used by 'vikings' (et.al.).  It is also simple to make.   Spears would be a logical next step to begin in...  more
